1. NATHAN IIUSE, b. about 1716 (his family originating in Wales), was a well- known physician in Amesbury, Mass., who " practised a

great many years in the West Parish," and d. April 23, 1800, in his 93d year. lle m. Rachel Sargeut, was the father of three brothers, as below, all of whom moved to Sanbornton, and the ancestor of all bearing that name who ever lived in town. Children (from the Antes- bury records) :

13. JOSEPH2, Sen. [6] (Nathan1), had moved to town from Ames- bury before 1782 ; was the first of the brothers here, and carly located southeast of the Square, Lot No. 41, 1st Division, Site 1 (see map). Was previously m. to " Abia " -, and had been in the Revolution- ary war; m., 2d, Mrs. Pease, a dau. of Daniel Morrison (see), and widow of the first settler on the late Dearborn Taylor place, Lot No. 26, 2d Div , where he finally settled, and d. July 10, 1827, ae. 78-4. She d. Dec. 12, 1824. He also built and owned the first mills at North Sanbornton, and, at his death, willed them to his nephew [54]. Ilis original ". mill house " was near the present Thomas Webster's (post- ofliee), on site now being occupied by Moses R Weeks's new house (erecting 1877). He left one son :
14. JOHN, Jr. (Ist wife), who was m. by Rev. Mr. Woodman to Mary Carter, of New Hampton, Oct. 4, 1796; lived a few years where the late Jona- than (now Arthur) Taylor, just west of his father's, and moved thence to Lit- tletou. Of his children : - 1. Simeon was residing in Coventry, Vt., 1861. 2. Joseph, moved West.
15. JOHN2 [10] (Nathan1), was in the Revolutionary war 2 years ; moved to S. in 1782; settled back of his brother Joseph's, in what is now Arthur Taylor's pasture (see Sites), and moved in 1801 down near the Bay, Lot No. 21, 2d Div., where his youngest son [50] now occupies (1880). IIe m. Molly ( Mary) Bean, who was b. Aug. 3, 1764, and d. July 25, 1833, ae. 69. Ile d. Sept. 15, 1832, in his 74th year. Children :
16. ABIGAIL, b. June 19, 1783; m. Joshua Brown; Ilved in Sanbornton a few years, and then moved to Knox, Me. She d., his widow, May 27, 1832, in her G9th year.

WILLIAM2 [11] (Nathan1), like his brothers, was in the Revo- lutionary war, but came to this town a little later, first locating on Lot No. 51, 1st Div., but afterwards being the first settler on the old Mountain Road, next to New Hampton line ; house afterwards rem., by Dr. B. Sanborn, to the Square. There all his children but the oldest and the youngest were born. He had m. Rachel Bryer (Brier), in Epping, as per t. r., July 18, 1780. Rem. to Orange, Vt. ; returned to Sanbornton, living where now David Bunker (Lot No 45, 2d Div.) ; again moved to Waterbury, Vt., with his son [54], and there d., fall of 1838 or 1839, ae. 79. She also d., in W., spring of 1845. The fol- lowing records substantiate his early relations with the Congregational Church, and the order of the births of his four oldest children : "Sept. 24, 1786, William Huse renewed covenant with God, and was admitted to fill communion ; same day, his wife took the covenant of God upon her, and was baptized by name of Rachel, and admitted to full com- munion." "Sept. 28, 1786. Baptized 3 children of the above, one by the name of Joseph, one by the name of Nathan, and one by the name of Rachel." (The two sons being named first in the order of their ages. ) " March 25, 1787. Baptized Hannah, dan. of William lInse." Children :

29. Theori.us N , m. to Polly Fifield, dau. of Samuel (see p. 277 [11]), by Mr. Bodwell, Oct. 29, 1812; rem. to Orange, Vt .; res. in Stowe (1875). Of their 12 children, the oldest : - 1. Thomas Gilmore, was b. in Sanborntou. 30. MARCY, b. 1792, as her twin sister, d., July 17, 1792, soon after birth. She d., umm., in Orange, Vt., ac. 17.
31. WILLIAM, b. 1795; was a cabinet-maker in Boston; m. Mary Short, of West Cambridge, in Nantucket, Mass. Nine children, 5 deceased. Ile was living with his son : - 1. Warren, in Roxbury, Mass., 1875.

He was a farmer, and d., at East Corinth, July 3. 1863, ac. 70. She indites excellent letters at the age of 90 (1877-78), breathing a deep spirit of piety. Children :
