He and his family are listed in the 1860 Cen- sus of Minden, but I find conflict- ing statements. He was an attor- ney in St. Johnsville and Cana- joharie and a druggest in Fort Plain. No. 12 Henrietta Benham Web- 'ster. Concerning her, W. P. Web- ster's diagrams give only that she was the 12th child of Dr. Joshua 5 Webster and Catharine 4 Wag- goner and that she married Frank- lin A. Hudson.

The following information I got from her most interesting obit- uary pasted in the old scrap-book of Mary Havens. The obituary is dated, "Fort Plain, Jan. 22, 1868," and signed "J. R. S." Could this have been Jeptha R. Simms, au- thor of "The Frontiersmen of New York ?"

The obituary states that Hen- rietta Webster was the youngest daughter of Dr. Joshua Webster and Catharine Wagner, that she was born July 5, 1827 and died at the home of her sister Mrs. Jane A. Ward, Jan. 21, 1868, in the 41st year of her age of a heart ail- ment, that she married Nov. 1, 1848, Franklin A. Hudson and went to his piantation in Bayou Goula, La. Because of sectional dissension, she came North in 1861. A change of climate became necessary for her in the fall of 1863 and accompanied by Miss Cornelia Ward, now the wife of Hon. Angeli Matthewson, she went to St. Paul, Minn. where the Rev. J. B. Flagg of New Haven, Conn., painted her portrait. She return- ed to New York in the spring and spent several months at the home of her late brother-in-law. Holmes Hutchinson of Utica. Then she came back to Fort Plain to her sister, Mrs. Jane A. Ward's home, where her aged. mother was also diving. Henrietta's husband joined her after the war. She was ad- mitted to membership of the Dutch Church in Dec. 1865. Rev. Dr. Van Zandt officiating; her
