.

John I. 4 Wagner, son of Johan Jost or Joseph 3, Waggoner (Wag- ner) and Catharine 5 Abeel (Jo- hannes 4, Christoffel 3, Johannes 2, Christopher Janse 1) and grand- son of Lt. Col. Johan Peter 2 Waggoner (Johan Peter 1) and Barbara Elizabeth 2 Dockstader (Jeng or George 1), was born Pal- atine, N. Y., either Oct. 6, 1793 or Nov. 6, 1793, according to two Stone Arabia baptismal records icopied by W. P. Webster. Con- firmation of these records want- ed. Was one the infants' birth and the other his baptismal date?

Where and when did John I. Wagner die? Was it Aurora, Ill., to which W. P. Webster says he removed in 1838? If this date is correct, then John I. followed his lolder bro. Charles 4 Wagner who went there in 1837, according to recent information from Ill. sour- ces. Both John I. and Charles are mentioned in their father's pro- bate papers, dated Sept. 5, 1848, as living there.

It is to be noted that Illinois sources refer to Charles and his descendants as "Wagner" not as Wagener or Waggoner. I am therefore assuming that John I. also adopted the form "Wagner" as did his other brothers and their descendants, even those who re- mained in Montgomery Co., N. Y.

John I. 4 Wagner married | of Eva Ann Petrie (445) and Pet- where ? when ? Laura Gardner. Her dates and parents wanted. W. P. Webster5s unpub. diagrams give 7 children for them, listed in the following query. They may all have been born in Montgomery Co., perhaps in Fort Plain, N. Y. | Lockport, N. Y. Their baptismal records wanted,

The same problem presents it- self with John I. and Laura (Gard- ner) Wagners' dau. Laura E. 5 Wagner who according to W. P. Webster, married, Charles J. Pfrangle. The Illinois source state's that he was born in Baden, Ger., Alpr. 21, 1846. At age 13 was ap- prenticed to the Chicago, Burling- ton, and Quincey R. R. to learn the trade of a painter. He became one of the best sign and ornamen- tai painters in the west and in 1877 removed to Aurora, Il1. where he opened his own shop.
