Page 160, Book K .- At the annual Town meeting of the Town of East-Hampton, for the election of Town officers, held at Clinton Academy upon the sixth day of April, 1886, George A. Miller, Esq., was called to the Chair and Joseph S. Osborne, Town Clerk, acted as Clerk, and William L. Cartwright as assistant Clerk.
Upon petition of numerous citizens, Rev. J. D. Stokes opened the meeting with prayer. The annual report of the account of the Supervisor was read and approved. It was determined by ballot that the sum of fifteen hundred dollars be raised by tax to pay ex- isting deficiency of contingent fund of Supervisor and for contingent expenses for the coming year.
Resolved, That the Supervisor be and is hereby au- thorized to borrow upon his note as Supervisor, the sum of six hundred and twenty-five dollars, to pay the deficiency of the contingent fund account as per cer- tificate of Town Auditors.
The annual report of the Overseers of the Poor was read and accepted.
It was determined by ballot that the sum of twenty- three hundred dollars be raised by tax to pay the ex- isting deficiency of the accounts of the Overseers of the Poor and for contingent expenses of coming year.
Resolved, That the sum of three hundred and sixty- five dollars be raised by tax in addition to the sum al- ready submitted to the meeting by ballot, to meet the deficiency in the accounts of the Overseers of the Poor and for current expenses.

It was determined by ballot that the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars be raised by tax to pay the deficiency in the accounts of the Commissioners of Highways.
Resolved, That the Supervisor be and is hereby in- structed to pay to the Commissioners of Highways the sum of sixty-seven 50-100 dollars, it being the bai- ance of Dog Fund account remaining in his hands from last year, to be used toward liquidation of their indebtedness.

Whereas David G. Mulford, of the Town of East- Hampton, in the County of Suffolk, on the 8th day of August, 1885, appealed to the Hon. Thomas Young, County Judge of said County, from the determination of the Commissioners of Highways of the said Town, made on the 25th day of June, 1885, in laying out and altering a highway known as Buell's Lane, in the said Town, which said highway is particularly described in the said appeal hereto annexed, and, whereas, Cath- arine A. Hedges also appealed from the same deter- mination of the said Commissioners, which said ap- peal is also hereto annexed, and, whereas, after the expiration of sixty days after such determination had been filed in the office of the Town Clerk of the said Town, the said County Judge, according to the form of the statute in such case made and provided, ap- pointed us, N. D. Petty, of the Town of Riverhead, and Jas. H. Foster and Elias P. Tuttle, of the Town of Southampton, three disinterested freeholders who had not been named by the parties interested in the appeal, and who are residents of the County but not

Mulford and Catharine A. Hedges, appel- lants, and Daniel B. Conklin, applicant, specifying the 2nd day of February, 1886, as the time, and the dwelling house of Jehial K. Parsons, in the said Town of East-Hampton, as the place at which we would convene to hear the appeal, which notice was duly served at least eight days before the said time of con- vening, to wit, on the 22nd day of January, 1886, and we having convened at the time and place specified in said notice, and before proceeding to hear said ap- peal, having been duly sworn by an officer author- ized to take affidavits to be read in Courts of Records, to wit, James M. Strong, a Justice of the Peace of the Town of East-Hampton, Suffolk County, New York, faithfully to hear and determine the matter referred to us, have heard the proofs and allegations of the parties, and do thereupon order, determine and adjudge that the said determination of the said Commissioners of Highways, be and the same is af- firmed, and we do further order and determine that the said highway be laid out in accordance with the application of the said Daniel B. Conklin and Samuel S. Conklin, and the same is hereby described as fol- lows:

Then beginning at a point 542 links back from No. 4 upon the centre line of this sur- vey (5 on map), and running thence N. 24 deg. 15 min. W. 1.17 chains to a point upon the Turnpike (6 on map) and carrying 45 links of width upon the right side of the last named course for highway.

Whereas a certain road in the Town of East-Hamp- ton, near the Village of Freetown, and running from the Three Mile Harbor highway to the Old Accabonac highway, has been used as a public high- way for twenty years but has not been described and entered of record,
Now, therefore, we, the Commissioners of High- ways of said Town, all of said Commissioners having been duly notified to attend and deliberate upon the subject of this order.
Do Order, that said highway be ascertained, de- scribed and entered of record in the Town Clerk's office according to a survey which we have caused to be made of the same, as follows: Beginning at a stone (1 on map), from which the west corner of the house of Wm. J. Bennett bears (magnetic meridian, variation 9 deg. W.) N. 57 deg. E. 1.17 chains, and the north corner of the same house bears N. 44 deg. 50 min. E. 1.55 chains, and running thence S. 81 deg. 40 min. E. 2.85 ch. to No. 2; thence S. 66 deg. E. 2.30 ch. to No. 3; thence S. 43 deg. 25 min. Resolved, That the Supervisor elect be and is here- by authorized and empowered to borrow upon his note as Supervisor, the sum of four hundred and seventy- seven 74-100 dollars to pay the deficiency of the con- tingent fund acct. as per certificate of Town Audit- ors.
Resolved, That the Supervisor elect be and is here- by authorized and instructed to pay to the Commis- sioners of Highways the sum of ninety-nine 80-100 dol- lars now remaining in his hands from the Dog Fund acct. of the previous year toward the liquidation of their existing indebtedness.
Resolved, That the Supervisor elect be and is here- by authorized to insert in the next annual tax levy upon the request of the record committee, any sum of money, not to exceed four hundred dollars, which may be asked by said committee to meet the expense of printing the second volume of Town Records. E. 14.50 ch. to No. 9; thence same course 4.90 chains to No. 10, on the west. line of the road from the west end of Amagansett to the Beach, and 3.323 ch. from southeast corner of L. B. Leek's house, which said point bears from No. 10 N. 24 deg. W.
And we do further order that the line of said sur- vey (black line on the map), shall be the center of said highway, and that the width of said road shall be six and one-half rods at the beginning of No. 1, uniformly narrowing to six rods at No. 2 and con- tinuing six rods to No. 3, and then uniformly widen- ing to six and one-half rods at No. 4, and then con- tinuing six and one-half rods as far as No. 8, then uniformly narrowing to five rods at No. 9, and then widening uniformly to one chain and forty-six links at No. 10, the end of this survey.
