1716-17, Feb. 17. The Persons following, tho they did not con- sent to the covt. inpublick as was wont to be done, yet in effect did it. They having before discoursed with me in private, were willing I should publish to the congregation the following things; (the sev'll particulars of the things I discoursed with ym. about in private sev- eral times yt yr might be no mis understanding abt them) and ac· cordingly I did publish ym thus before they were baptised after the prayer.


* In ye loose paper out of wh (I think I took these things) and made such a memorandum of th names of persons to be baptised, it was added: I inform on ye word of a Minister yt yy have consent- ed to these things & I do take their silence as a publick assent to these declarations.


There are sevll adult psons now to be baptised (naming sevll of ym) with whom I have discoursed & I do now with yr consent in- form the congregation that they have declared to me their assent to ye articles of faith that have been often publickly mentioned & yy have professed (which with their consent I also declare to the con- gregation).


That they take the Ld to be their God.


That they take the Commandments of God as the rule of yr lives.


That they accept or submit to Christ in all his offices.


That they desire to be accted Deciples of Christ. .


And to partake of baptism as a badge of their decipleship.


And as for those of them that have children under their charge, they have professed their desire and resolution to bring them up for God .*
