At a meeting of the Board of Town Officers as pro- vided by Chapter 330, Laws of 1890, relation to money appropriations to defray election expenses, held Oc- tober 9th, 1890, at the office of the Town Clerk, the Supervisor, Town Clerk and all of the Justices were present, and the following resolution was introduced and passed.
Resolved, That the Supervisor of this Town be re- quested to ask from the Board of Supervisors of this County, that the sum of three hundred dollars be in- serted in the tax levy for this Town, for the purpose of being applied towards the election expenses of the general election to be held in November next.

1891, all the Commissioners having been duly notified to attend the said meeting for the purpose of delib- erating on the subject matter of this order, for the purpose of making a record of a certain highway known as Lily Pond Lane, in said Town,
It is hereby ordered, determined and certified that a public highway shall be and the same is hereby al- tered and laid out and a record thereof made in the office of the Town Clerk according to a survey which . has been made under our direction, as follows:
Beginning at a point on Ocean Avenue (No. 1 on map) which is marked by a granite set firmly in the ground and from which the southerly corner of the house of Prof. R. M. Smith bears (magnetic meridian) N. 25 deg. E. 4.47 chains, and running thence S. 561 deg. W. 11.34 chains to No. 2 (on map), nearly oppo- site the line fence between lands of John Henry Mul- ford and Henry Mulford; thence S. 72 deg. 25 min. W. 18.04 chains to the easterly corner of the land of David J. Gardiner: thence S. 73 deg. 20 min. W. 9.57 chains across front of said Gardiner's land (4 on map); thence across front of land of heirs of Ezekiel Jones, de- ceased, same course 8.07 chains (5 on map); thence same course 26.16 chains to a stone (6 on map), placed near the fence of land of David G. Mulford; thence N. 261 deg. W. 1.68 chains along the fence of said Mul- ford (7 on map); thence N. 521 deg. E. 33 links (8 on map); thence S. 62 deg. We do further order, that the line of survey from 1 to 6 shall be the centre line of said highway, and that said highway shall be of the width of four rods

At the annual Town Meeting of the Town of East- Hampton, for the election of Town Officers, held at Clinton Hall on the 7th day of April, 1891, Thomas F. Bisgood, Esq., was called to the Chair, and Joseph S. Osborne, Town Clerk, acted as Clerk.
Upon the request of the Chairman, Rev. J. D. Stokes opened the meeting with prayer. The polls were then declared open and on motion it was an- nounced that they would close at four o'clock.
A resolution authorizing the sum of nine hundred dollars to be raised by tax for the contingent expen- ses of the Supervisor's account for the coming year, was voted on by ballot and decided in the affirmative.
A resolution to raise by tax the sum of twelve hun- dred dollars for the contingent expenses of the Over- seers of the Poor, for the support of the poor for the coming year, was likewise voted on by ballot and af- firmed.
A resolution to raise by tax the sum of six hun- dred dollars for the use of the Town Trustees, for the institution and defence of suits, was voted on by bal- lot and decided in the affirmative.
It was voted that the sum of two hundred dollars be raised by tax to be paid to the Supervisor to be applied toward the expenses of the next general elec- tion.
The whole number of ballots cast "for the refund- ing and the relief of the drafted men," was eleven; and the whole number of ballots cast "against the refunding and the relief of the drafted men," was twenty one.

Application having been made to us, the Commis- sioners of Highways of the Town of East-Hampton, for permission to set shade trees upon the Main street of East-Hampton, at a greater distance from the out- side line of the highway than is usuually laid down as proper and right, and we having been upon the ground and made an examination as to the reason- ableness of the request, do hereby allow that in con- sideration of the shape of the ground in front of the premises of Patrick Lynch and Mary E. Dayton, trees may be set at distances apart and from the outside line of said highway, in conformity with a map which

shall be filed in the Town Clerk's office at same time as this order.
In front of the premises of Mary E. Dayton the trees may be placed at a distance of 19} feet from the line of fence as now standing, and in front of the prem- ises of Patrick Lynch trees may be placed on a direct line drawn from the northerly tree of Ann M. Par- sons and the southern most tree which stands in front of the land of Mary E. Dayton, which is two feet northerly of her south corner, provided that the first three tree's next to the most southerly tree of said Mary E. Dayton shall be placed at a distance of 32 feet from each other, and the remainder of the dis- tance trees may be placed 31 feet apart.

It is ordered, determined and certified, that a pub- lic highway shall be and the same is hereby altered and a portion thereof discontinued according to a sur- vey which we have caused to be made, as follows:
Beginning at a stone firmly set in the ground, mark- ed one on map, from which the southeast corner of the house of Mary A. Schellinger bears (magnetic meridian) N. 9 deg. W. 1.35 chains distant and the southwest corner of the same house bears N. 31 deg. 10 min. W. 1.52 chains; this stone is also 1.07 chains distant from the angle in the fence of said Mary A. Schellinger and 713 links from the corner of land of C. W. Rackett; thence running from station one of this survey S. 852 deg. W. 26.10 ch. to a stone oppo- site the east corner of "Rocks Piece " (or 120th lot); also running from station one N. 542 deg. E. 58 links to a stone; the north outside line of last named course being 35 links and the southerly line being consider- ably longer, to connect this survey with the survey of Amagansett Main street.
We do further order that the line of survey as here- in described shall be the centre line of said highway, and that the width of said highway shall be seven rods wide, and remain a public highway forever, and that all portions of the present highway not included in the lines hereinbefore described be, and the same are hereby discontinued, the adjoining owners having

be and hereby are directed and empowered to rent or buy a suitable site and erect thereon a building for a lockup, and furnish it with proper precautions for the safe keeping of criminals or disorderly persons who may be arrested and committed thereto, and that the sum of five hundred dollars be and is hereby ap- propriated to be used for that purpose, and the said sum shall be inserted in the next annual tax levy, and that the Supervisor be also authorized to hire upon his note as Supervisor, as great a portion of that amount as may be necessary to be expended before December 15th, 1892.
Resolved, that the sum of five hundred dollars be raised for the use of the Trustees of the Town, and the Supervisor be requested to have same inserted in the tax levy, and that the amount when raised be paid in full to the Clerk of the Trustees, on his giving a bond in the penal sum of $1,000, with two sureties. such bond and sureties to be approved by the Super- visor, and the bond to be filed with the Town Clerk.
Resolved, That the sum of one hundred and thirteen 4-100 dollars be and is hereby appropriated to pay the deficiency in the accounts of the Commissioners of Highways, and that the same be inserted in the next tax levy, and the Commissioners of Highways are hereby authorized to hire the said sum on their note as such Commissioners.
It was resolved that when this meeting adjourn it be to meet on the first Tuesday in April, 1893, at Clin- ton Hall, at ten o'clock A. M.

Also beginning at a point marked by a stone in the centre of the highway, which is placed in the centre of the alteration of said road as hereinbefore describ- ed, and running thence N. 112 deg. E. 5.07 chains to a point near a large white oak tree, at or near the westerly corner of land of Ernest L. Fields; thence N. 212 deg. E. 8.62 chains to a point near house form- erly of Joseph Bassett, which point, marked by a gran- ite, is identical with Station E of record of 1875; the line of alteration to be four rods in width throughout its whole length, the adjoining owners having con- sented to the alterations and released all lands taken for road purposes by said survey.
And we do further order, that all lands not includ- ed in the foregoing descriptions of alteration of the highways, be and they are hereby discontinued, and the highways as altered shall be and remain public highways forever.

E. 438 feet to another stone, No. 3, at the edge of the Swamp; thence S. 80% E. 636 feet across the Swamp to the Egypt Lane highway, marked by a stone and called No. 4 of sur- vey and opposite the end of Hither Lane highway.
