Architect, author; b. Paris, France, March 31, 1863; s. Mathew3; direct descendant of Anthony Thompson, Charles Drelincourt and Rebecca (Thompson) who came to this country 1637; founded New Haven with Messrs. Davenport and Eaton, and signed the Colony Constitution June 4, 1639. A paternal ancestor was Major Dirge Wesselse Ten Broeck, who came to B verwyck (now Albany, N. Y.), in 1662, was the first recorder of the city in I686, and mayor, 1696-1698; ed. St. Paul's School, Concord, N. Il., and in Paris and Nice, France, Yale, A. B., 1886; A.M., 1892, Columbia School of Mines, Ph. B., 1889. Studled architecture in Paris; ex- hibited drawings at World's Columbian Exp'n, Chicago, 1893; won competition, in 1891, for remodeling Ch. of the Holy Trinity, N. Y. Clty; introduced under the re- quirements of the Building Dep't of N. Y. Clty, an inno- vation in fireproof construction; in 1901 won competl- tion for remodeling east end of St. Patrick's Cathe- dral, N. Y. City, the competitors being architects from France, England. Canada and America. Author: The Renaissance Under the Valois, 1893; The Story of Archl- treture, 1896. The Renaissance was very favorably reviewed by Brunetiere in the Revue des lieux Mondes; received high commendation by the Minister of Public Instruction in an official letter to the Amerlean am- bassador.
