On the memorial of Samuel Lovett, as guardian to David Knight, Jonathan Knight, and Silas Knight, all of Norwich, shewing to this Assembly that the said David and Jonathan are twins in the seventh year of their age, and that the said Silas is in the fifth year of his age, and that neither of them have or ever had any estate except about three or four acres of land each that was set out to them in the division of the estate of their father, Mr. Benjamin Knight late of said Norwich, deceas'd, and that there has arisen necessary charges for their support since the decease of their said father over and above what was allowed by the judge of probate to the widow of said deceas'd for bringing them up to the age of four years each, which has been considered and allowed by said judge as follows, viz: For keeping and supporting said Jonathan, £12 15 6, and for keeping and sup- porting said David £9 5 0, and for keeping and supporting said Silas £8 0 0, which can no other ways be paid but by money raised by the sale of said lands, as appears by a certificate from the clerk of pro- bates for the district of Norwich, and thereupon praying for liberty to sell so much of said lands as shall be sufficient to raise the sum or sums from each of them respectively due: Thereupon resolved by this Assembly, that the memorialist have liberty, and power and authority is hereby given to said Samuel Loveitt, to sell so much of the lands of the said Jonathan as to raise the sum of £12 15 6, and of the land of said David so much as to raise the sum of £9 5 0, and of the land of said Silas so much as to raise the sum of £8 0 0, with incident charges arising on such sale; taking the direction of the court of probate for the district of Norwich therein.

On the memorial of Ozias Bidwell, administrator on the estate of Zacheus Scott late of Hartford, deceas'd, for liberty to sell land &c., as per memorial on file: Resolved by this Assembly, that the memo- rialist have liberty, and it is hereby granted to him, to sell so much of the real estate of said Zacheus Scott of Hartford, deceas'd, as will raise the sum of £64 18 6, L. money, to discharge the debts due from the estate of the said deceas'd; to be sold by the advice of the court of probates for the district of Hartford; together with necessary charges of sale.
Upon the memorial of Isaac Hull jun' of Wallingford, lieutenant in the third company of the first regiment of light-horse in said State, shewing that by an act of the General Assembly in October, 1776, said troop was ordered to the western part of said State to join the forces then under the command of Maj" General Wooster, and that he, said Hall, took the command of said troops, the captain thereof being sick, and went into said service and continued in the same from the 25th day of said October to the last day of December following, together with said troop, and that neither he nor said troop have been paid therefor, and praying that the Committee of Pay-Table be ordered to adjust his pay-roll &c., as per memorial on file &c .: Resolved by this Assembly, that the Committee of Pay-Table be directed and they are hereby directed to adjust and settle the pay-roll of said troop of light- horse by the same rule as hath been heretofore allowed by Congress to the troops of light-horse of this State while in the service of the continent, and draw on the Treasurer for the pay, and charge the same to the continent.
Upon the memorial of John Kennedy and Robert Atkinson of New Haven, shewing to this Assembly that they were convicted before the superior court of carrying one Smith to Long Island in August last and was sentenced to be imprisoned twelve months and pay ten pounds, L. money, fine and cost, and as they have nothing to pay praying that they may be released from confinement, giving security for the cost, as per memorial on file: Resolved by this Assembly, that the memorialist be released and suffered to return to their homes on their taking the oath of fidelity to this State and giving such security for the cost of prosecution and their future good behaviour as they can procure; and Samuel Huntington, Esq', is authorized to take such security and order their discharge.
Upon the memorial of Mr. John Townley, merchant, a native of Great Britain, praying for liberty to return to Great Britain by the way of New York &c .: Resolved by this Assembly, that the memori- alist have liberty to return home to England, and his Excellency the Governor is requested to give him liberty to go to New York by a flag of truce at the expence of the memorialist.

Upon the memorial of Elisha Wadsworth of Hartford, shewing to this Assembly that he hath been for some time past and now is con- fined in goal, pursuant to a sentence or judgment of the superior court, who also rendered judgment against him that he should pay a fine of forty pounds and costs &c. ; praying for relief, as per memorial on file: Resolved by this Assembly, that upon the memorialist's exe- cuting and delivering to the Treasurer of this State his, the memori- alist's, note or obligation payable for said fine and costs, and taking the oath of fidelity to this State, he be released from his confinement in said goal and confined within the limits of the town of Hartford during the remainder of the term for which he was sentenced to be imprisoned as aforesaid.
Upon the memorial of Gershom Scott jun' of Waterbury, shewing to this Assembly that in the year 1775 he inlisted into the service of this State under the command of Capt. Caleb Trowbridge of New Haven; that said Trowbridge has drew and received his wages, being £14 18 8, but neglects to pay the same; praying for relief, as per memorial on file : Resolved by this Assembly, that the Committee of Pay-Table be and they are hereby directed to examine and adjust the wages and allowances due to the memorialist and draw an order on the Treasurer for the payment of the sum which they shall find due: provided the memorialist shall become bound with suretys to repay such sum as he shall receive or any part thereof as may afterward appear to have been paid by said Capt. Trowbridge.
Upon the memorial of the listers of the town of Fairfield, shewing that in making up the fourfold assessments and additions to the list of said town for the year 1776 they by mistake neglected to distinguish the amount of cach and have now certifyed that the additions to said list amounted to £3337 5 10, and the fourfold assessments to £4409 4 6: Resolved by this Assembly, that said certificate be accepted and said list entered accordingly.
Upon the memorial of John Welton, administrator on the estate of Benjamin Scott late of Waterbury, deceas'd, shewing to this Assem- bly that the debts and charges arising on said estate over and above what a certificate hath been heretofore given for amount to the sum of £48 16 1; praying for liberty and authority to sell so much of said estate as will be sufficient to pay said sum : Resolved by this Assembly, that the said John Welton have liberty and authority to sell so much of said estate as will be sufficient to pay the said sum of £48 16 1 with incident charges arising on such sale; taking the direction of the court of probate for the district of Woodbury therein.
Upon the memorial of Abraham Thomas of Woodbury, shewing to this Assembly that Isaac Thomas, his son, a soldier in Capt. Bradley's

company in Colo. Gay's regiment, was wounded in the knee at the. White Plains on or about the 31st day of October last with a cannon ball, from whence he was carried to North Castle, and from thence to. said Abraham Thomas' house in Woodbury, where he continued untill the ninth day of December, and then died of his wounds, and that in. bringing the said Isaac home, cost of doctors, medicines &c., he hath. expended in money to the amount of £24 6 9, for which he hath. received no recompence, and praying for relief &c., as per memorial. on file : Resolved by this Assembly, that the Committee of Pay-Table receive and adjust the accounts of the said Abraham Thomas and draw on the Treasurer for such sum as they shall find justly and reasonably due thereon.
Upon the memorial of Samuel Beers of Stratford, administrator on the estate of William Beers late of said Stratford, deceas'd, shew- ing to this Assembly that the debts and charges due from said estate surmount the personal estate of said deceas'd the sum of £64 0 2; praying for liberty to sell so much of the real estate of said deceas'd as to raise said sum with incident charges &c .: Resolved by this Assembly, that said administrator be permitted, and liberty is hereby granted him, to sell so much of the real estate of said deceas'd as to raise said sum of £64 0 2 with the incident charges arising thereon; taking the direction of the court of probate for the district of Fairfield therein.
Upon the memorial of Samuel Beers and Mary Lamson, both of Stratford, administrators on the estate of John Lamson late of said Statford, deceas'd, shewing to this Assembly that the debts and charges due from said estate surmount the personal estate of said deceas'd the sum of £285 10 0} ; praying for liberty to sell so much of the real estate of said deceas'd as to raise said sum &c., as per memorial on file : Resolved by this Assembly, that said administra- tors have liberty, and liberty is hereby granted unto them, to sell so much of the real estate of said deceas'd as to raise said sum of £285 10 0} with the incident charges arising thereon ; taking the direction of the court of probate for the district of Fairfield therein.
Upon the memorial of Brigadier General Oliver Wolcott, shewing to this Assembly that on the requisition of Majr General Gates in September last he marched with between three and four hundred of the militia of his brigade, including about 25 of the light-horse and a few of the 13th regiment as volunteers, and joined the continental army under the command of said General Gates, and continued with him in said service untill the surrender of General Burgoyne and then were dismissed, and that some supernumerary officers were included in said company; praying that such allowance may be made to him and the rest of said volunteers and for their horse hire as may be just.

and reasonable, as per memorial on file : Resolved by this Assembly, that said brigadier and such field officers, captains and subalterns as marched with him and continued in said service, be allowed and paid the same wages, rations and allowances that officers of their respec- tive rank are allowed and paid in the continental army for the time they served as aforesaid; and that the non-commission officers and soldiers, or those who served as such, be allowed and paid the same wages, premium and other allowances in proportion to the times of their said service as was by act of the General Assembly in August last allowed to the two regiments of militia ordered to be raised to join General Gates, and that they have the same allowance for horse hire; that said 25 light-horse be allowed the same as the light-horse who marched with or about the same time with said two regiments. And said Brigadier Wolcott is desired to make or cause to be made proper abstracts and pay-rolls and deliver the same to such person as shall be appointed by his Excellency the Governor pay-master for said volunteers, which pay-master the Governor is desired to appoint ; and said pay-master is directed to present said abstracts &c. to Gen- eral Gates and request him to give order for the payment of the same or such part as he shall judge just, which sum said pay-master is directed to apply for, receive and pay out according to said pay-roll, and to apply to the Committee of the Pay-Table to settle and adjust the remainder agreeable to this resolve, who are directed to settle and adjust the same and draw on the Treasurer of this State to pay the ballance due to said pay-master, to be by him paid to said Brigadier Wolcott &c., agreeable to said pay-roll.
Upon the memorial of Allyn Wightman, administrator on the es- tate of John Lamb late of said Groton, deceas'd, shewing that the debts against said estate surmount the moveable estate of said deceas'd the sum of £36 11 0, L. money, and praying for liberty to sell a house and garden spot adjoining part of the real estate of said deceas'd, inventoried at £45 0 0, money, for the purpose of raising the afore- said sum of £36 11 0, L. money, with incidental charges arising on said sale, as per memorial on file : Resolved by this Assembly, that the said Allyn Wightman have liberty, and liberty and authority is hereby granted unto him, to make sale of the abovementioned house and garden spot for the purpose of raising the abovementioned sum of £36 11 0, L. money, with incidental charges arising on said sale, tak- ing the advice of the court of probate for the district of Stonington therein, and to be accountable for the surplus, if any be, as adminis- trator.

shewing to this Assembly that the personal estate of said deceas'd is not sufficient to pay the just debts of said deceas'd, and that said deceas'd died possest of real estate in lands lying in the town of Glocester and Killingley, partly in this State and partly in the State of Rhode Island, and that said administrators applied and had liberty from the Assembly of Rhode Island to sell real estate in said State sufficient to raise the sum of £200 0 0, L. money, for discharge of the deceas'd's just debts ; and the memorialists further shewing that it would be of much more advantage to the heirs of said deceas'd to sell the estate of the deceas'd lying in Killingley in this State, and praying this Assembly to grant liberty to sell so much of the real es- tate of said deceas'd lying in this State as will raise the sum of £200 0 0, and is sufficient to pay the debts of said deceas'd and charges arising thereon, as per memorial on file dated the 16th day of Septem- ber, 1777 : Resolved by this Assembly, that the memorialists have liberty, and liberty and authority is hereby given to them, to sell so. much of the real estate of said deceas'd as will be sufficient to raise the sum of two hundred pounds and the incident charges arising thereon, under the direction of the town council of the town of Gloces- ter afores'd therein : provided no lands are sold pursuant to the act. of Assembly in the State of Rhode Island.
Upon the petition of Daniel Foot, of Branford in the county of New Haven, shewing to this Assembly that Elihu and Edwin Foot, sons to the petitioner, marched to New York the beginning of August, 1776, for the defence of the United States, and there remained untill the 25th of August when Edwin was taken sick and removed to Har- lem with Elihu to tend him, where he lay untill the 14th of September when he was removed to Rye, no provision being made there for the sick, and having an opportunity they returned to Branford by water about the 23d of September, where the said Edwin continued under the doctor's care untill the 13th of November when he died, and that both his said sons were returned deserters, and consequently received no pay; praying for wages, cost of sickness &c .: It is thereupon resolved by this Assembly, that the Committee of Pay-Table be directed and they are hereby directed, to settle and adjust the wages of said Elihu and Edwin and expences of sickness of the said Edwin, in the same manner and by the same rule as is allowed to such as are regu- larly discharged from service, and to draw an order on the Treasurer of this State for such sum as shall appear to be justly due.
Upon the memorial of Richard Lightfoot, a native of the Kingdom of Ireland, praying for liberty to return to Ireland by the way of New York &c .: Resolved by this Assembly, that the memorialist have liberty to return home to Ireland; and his Excellency the Governor is requested to give him liberty to go to New York by a flag of truce, at the expence of the memorialist.

Upon the memorial of Jeremiah Mason, shewing to this Assembly that he commanded a regiment of militia at or near Maroneck in the State of New York, that when the enemy landed at Frogs Point the regiment he commanded was extended near eight miles in length to watch the motions of the enemy, which rendered it necessary for the memorialist to keep a horse for his use in the service, and that while his horse was so used, by a sudden attack of the enemy his horse was lost with his saddle and bridle ; praying for relief &c., as per memorial on file, dated the 19th day of December, 1776, appears : Resolved by this Assembly, that the committee of Pay-Table draw an order on the Treasurer of this State to pay said Jeremiah Mason the sum of fifteen pounds out of the public treasury in recompence for his horse, saddle and bridle, and the Treasurer is ordered to pay the same accordingly, and the Pay-Table charge the same to the continent.
Upon the memorial of Anne Pierpoint, administratrix upon the estate of Mr. James Pierpoint, decd, representing that the debts due from the estate of said deceas'd exhibited since the former allowance, including some allowances to keep house, amount to the sum of £135 16 11, and that there is no moveable estate to pay the same ; praying for liberty to sell so much of the real estate of said deceas'd as shall be sufficient to pay said sum, as per memorial on file appears; Resolved by this Assembly, that the memorialist have liberty, and liberty and authority is hereby granted unto her, to sell so much of the real estate of said deceas'd as shall be sufficient to pay said sum of £135 16 11, together with the incident charge of such sale; tak- ing the direction of the court of probate for the district of New Haven therein.
