Article 1. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Town raise and appropriate $50.00 and that the Select- men be instructed to remove the former #2 Fire Station Building.


Article 2. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY : That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $100.00 to land- scape the site of the former #2 Fire Station.

Article 3. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Town accept Chapter 143 of the Acts of 1954, which reads as follows:


"Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of sec- tions one and two of chapter eighty (80), and section twenty-seven (27) of. chapter eighty-three (83) of the General Laws, assessments for betterments may be valid- ly made by the Town of Randolph on all construction for betterments which were completed during the cal- endar years nineteen hundred and fifty-one, nineteen hundred and fifty-two and nineteen hundred and fifty- three.


Section 2. This act shall take full effect upon its acceptance by a majority of the Town Meeting Members of said Town present and voting thereon at a regular or special town meeting, but not otherwise."


Article 4. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Town transfer from the Excess and Deficiency Account the sum of $3,850.00 to purchase or take by eminent do- main for public school purposes plots of land described and located as follows:


A plot described as Lot #6 owned by John Melinas consisting of some ten acres located adjacent to Beverly Circle and Vesey Road and that the sum of $1,600.00 in payment therefor and a plot of approximately ten acres, title to which is one Graziano and the sum of $2,250.00 in payment therefor, which plot is adjacent to plot of land of some twelve acres owned by the Town of Ran- dolph and a plot of land of some four and five-tenths acres owned by the Town of Randolph, formerly owned by one John J. Doyle.


Article 5. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Town purchase or take by eminent domain, and that $500.00 be transferred from the Excess and Deficiency

Account for public school purposes, a strip of land run- ning from Liberty Street in said Town in a northwesterly direction, which is now a part of Lot 21 and Lot 20 adja- cent to said Liberty Street for a distance of six hundred feet (600), more or less, so as to provide a right of way and access for a proposed school site.


Article 6. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY : That the Town raise and appropriate $726.00 to care for Graves of Veterans under the jurisdiction of an Agent to be ap- pointed by the Selectmen in conformance with the pro- visions of Section 9 of Chapter 584, Acts and Resolves of the Massachusetts Legislatures 1946.


SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


June 21, 1954


Article 1. VOTED: That the Town confirm action of Articles 4 and 5 of Special Town Meeting of March 15, 1954, regarding the taking by Eminent Domain for School Construction purposes, certain plots of land north of Lib- erty Street, consisting of some 30 acres, more or less, a plan of which is being prepared, and without further appropriation of the adoption of said plan.


Description of Land in Proposed Taking for Access Road to Proposed School Building Site :


"Beginning at a point on the North sideline of Lib- erty Street 20.00 feet Easterly of the line between the land of the Doyle heirs and Howard Reilly, thence North by the Easterly side of an existing 20 feet Right of Way on the land of said Reilly a distance of 575 feet to a cor- ner, thence turning South on a line parallel to the Easterly sideline of the aforementioned Right of Way a distance of 580.76 feet to the North sideline of Liberty Street,

"Beginning at a point on the Easterly side of an ex- isting Right of Way between the land of Howard Reilly and the Doyle heirs 575 feet from the North sideline of Liberty Street; thence running N 81-06-40 W a distance of 1449.52 feet to a point on a stone wall between the land now or formerly of John Melinas and Ture Inge- manson, thence N 12-18-47 E a distance of 218.70 feet to a drill-hole in said wall, thence N 15-27-59 E along said wall a distance of 484.90 feet, thence N 14-38-12 E a distance of 232.58 feet to a corner, thence N 89-50-10 E a distance of 373.88 feet to a stake in the center of a brook, thence S 88-40-32 E a distance of 366.02 feet to a stake near the Westerly sideline of Pond Avenue, thence North- easterly by several short courses a total of 581.69 feet to a stake, thence S 2-12-28 W a distance of 683.70 feet to land of Howard Reilly, thence down the Easterly sideline of the aforementioned Right of Way a distance of 459.28 feet to the point of beginning; and containing 31.5 acres.


Article 2. VOTED: That the Moderator appoint a seven (7) person committee composed of four (4) men and three (3) women to study the recreational needs of Randolph and to report their finding at the next annual Town Meeting in March, 1955.

Article 4. VOTED : That the Town grant permis- sion to Lindwood Memorial Park, Inc., a cemetery permit to operate a segregated, non-sectarian cemetery on sev- eral parcels of contiguous land, consisting of 90 acres,

Article 3. VOTED: That the Town give a deed to a triangular shaped piece of realty, owned by the Town, located on Memorial Parkway, the dimensions of which are 21.06 at the widest part, running in a westerly di- rection, from 400.12 on the longest side and 399.70 on the shortest side to a point of "0" width, in payment for a claim for land damages filed in the Superior Court against the Town by Edward A. Kane, et al and the Randolph Amusement Company, Inc., for land damages involved in a taking by the Town for street widening purposes of Main Street, dated September 6, 1950, and involving some 3,085 square feet of realty, said claims being represented by actions No. 51091 and No. 51092, in the Superior Court for Norfolk County.


Article 4. VOTED: That the Town transfer the sum of $311.93 from the Parking Meter Fees Account, to the Parking Meter Maintenance Expense Account.


Article 5. Article 7. VOTED: That the Town transfer the sum of $1,200.00 from the Lafayette Street Drainage Account to the School Planning and Building Committee for the expense of preliminary plans for the proposed new elementary school.

ONE HUNDRED AND NINETEENTH ANNUAL REPORT


Article 10. VOTED: That the Town transfer the sum of $5,000.00 from the School Salary Account to the School Committee Expense Account for the purpose stated in their request.


Article 11. VOTED : That the Town zone the following described area from residential to industrial : Land in Randolph, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, being that shown on the Town of Randolph Assessors map as Parcel 8, Plan 50, owned by Allen Clark. To zone from this parcel of 27,900 square feet a piece of land 50 feet by 50 feet, bordered on the North by Lancaster Road, on the East by a stone wall, on the South and West by land owned by Allen Clark. Said parcel of land to be used solely for the manufacture of doughnuts by said Allen Clark and upon his discontinuance of the manufacture of doughnuts upon said premises said parcel to revert back to residential zoning.


VOTED UNANIMOUSLY: Yes.


Article 12. VOTED: That the Town transfer the sum of $1,763.79 from the Additional Police Officers Salary Account, established at the 1954 Annual Town Meeting under Article 37 of that date, to the Police De- partment Salary Account.


Article 13. VOTED: To haar and act on the re port of any committee and to choose any committee the Town may think proper.


Article 14. VOTED: That the Town transfer the sum of $750.00 from the Lafayette Street Drainage Ac- count to the Civilian Defense Expense Account for the purchase of equipment to generate, transmit and receive messages in any time of local emergency.
