Notice was given to the Surveyor General by the Secretary, of an additional number of officers intitled to land in donation from this State, agreeably to the Comptroller General's report of this day ; one tract of six hundred acres, one of five hundred acres, and two tracts of four hundred acres of land each.


An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Bernard Dougherty, Esquire, for the sum of seventeen pounds ten shillings specie, in full of his account of services at this Board untill the thirtieth instant, inclusively.


A letter from Thomas Smith, Esquire, stating that Mr. Thomas Forrest is possessed of a certificate originally issued by John Pierce to Bartholomew Van Herr, upon which he demands interest, under the funding law passed on the sixteenth of March, 1785 ; that he has hitherto refused to give it, as he conceives that it stands among those precluded by section the fourteenth, and praying the opinion of Council upon it, was read, and an order taken that this Board is unanimously of opinion that, from the clear and natural con- struction of the law aforesaid, the claims of interest set up by Tho- mas Forrest are unfounded, and ought to be rejected.

An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Frederick Doersh, post rider, for the sum of seven pounds ten shillings specie, agreeably to the Comptroller General's report upon his account for carrying letters and packetts, by order of the Board.


An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of sundry persons, late soldiers in the service of the United States, and disa- bled therein, for the sum of sixty-seven pounds ten shillings specie, agreeably to the Comptroller General's report, and act of Assembly dated on the twenty-second day of September last.

SUPREME EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.


Upon the resignation of Plunket Fleeson, Esquire, Council pro- ceeded to the appointment of a President of the Court of General Quarter Sessions of the Peace and Jail Delivery for the city and county of Philadelphia, and of the Court of Record of the city of Philadelphia, when Edward Shippen, Esquire, was unanimously appointed.


Two orders were drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Lieuten- ant Colonel Josiah Harmer, for the sum of seventy-eight pounds fifteen shillings, respectively, for the purpose of recruiting the quota of Federal militia to be raised by this State, according to act of Assembly dated on the sixth day of September, 1785, for which he is to account.


Note .- These orders were delivered to Captain David Zeigler.

A return from three districts, of the general election for the county of Northumberland, was received and read, by which it ap- peared, (the return made by the fourth district having been excluded for some supposed irregularity,) that William Maclay, John Weit- zle, and Anthony Sealing, Equires, were elected Representatives in Assembly; Thomas Grant and John Sneider, Esquires, Sheriffs; and Joseph Laurens and Christian Gettig, Esquires, Coroners.


Thomas Grant, Esquire, was commissionated Sheriff, having of- fered to Council William Wilson and William Cook, Esquires, as his securities, who were accepted.


A copy of Robert Steel's conviction and sentence, accompanied by a recommendation from the Chief Justice and his Associate Justices, was read, and a pardon granted thereon.


The Comptroller General's report upon the accounts of Thomas Saltar, for the service of a schooner, his property, employed in re- moving military stores from this city on the approach of the enemy in September, 1777, was read and approved, and an order drawn in his favor for eight pounds ten shillings specie, to be paid out of the militia of the city and county of Philad'a.

Of Captain Joseph Erwin, for a horse lost in General Clark's expedition against the Indians ; and of Captain John Stewart, of Westmoreland county, for his services in warning the different classes in the years 1780, 1781, and 1782, were read and approved.


Orders were drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of the following persons, for the sums annexed to their respective names, vizt :


Robert Aitken, for printing, one hundred and ninety-nine pounds nineteen shillings, specie.


The estate of Captain Thomas Hazlewood, late of the State navy, deceased, ten pounds two shillings and six pence.
