A letter from Joseph Hart, Esquire, advising Council of the re- version of some property to the State upon the death of a certain Valentine Nelson, late of the county of Bucks, who died intestate, and is without any legal representative.
The petition of Joseph Chandler, was read, and an order taken, that in consideration of the circumstances, and the recommendation of his case by the Magistrates, the fine of five pounds for which he is now held in confinement, be remitted.
A return of a late election of a Justice of the Peace for the Northern Liberties of this city, with a remonstrance against the said election, were read, and an order taken, that the remonstrants be directed to furnish Council with a specification of the particular instances in support of their different charges.
The following gentlemen were this morning commissioned Jus- tices of the Court of Common Pleas in their respective counties, vizt :
John Jordan, Esquire, (of Carlisle,) for the county of Cumber- land. And Joseph Miller, John Boyd, Henry Shaffer, and Samuel Jones, Esquires, for the county of Lancaster.

The following fines due to the State were remitted upon the pe- titions of the persons fined respectively, vizt : Two pounds to James Brown ; five pounds to Anne Pembroke; five pounds to John Chandler; two pounds to Robert Powell; eight pounds sixteen shillings to Richard Skinner ; to Eleanor Wright, four pounds four- teen shillings and six pence ; and to Patrick Fitzimmons, and Mal- colm McFarlane, six pounds five shillings each.
The Comptroller General's reports upon the accounts of Edward Bartholomew, Esquire, Collector of Excise for the city and county of Philadelphia, of the thirty-first of December, 1784, was read and approved.
Doctor Smith's account was approved as reported upon by the Comptroller General yesterday, and an order drawn upon the Trea- surer for the sum of seventy-seven pounds ten shillings specie, in his favor.
The accounts of the Wardens of the Port of Philadelphia from the first of September until the first of December, 1784, reported upon by the Comptroller General, was read and approved.

Resolved, That the said William Henry, Esquire, is intitled to one moiety of the neat proceeds of the amount of the sales of Bri- tish merchandize, seized at Lancaster, in the hands of Mr. Taylor, and that an order be drawn therefor as soon as the amount of the sales are ascertained; and the same was adopted by Council.
Upon the petition of John Marks, seconded by a recommenda- tion from five of the Justices of the Court, and a number of re- spectable characters resident in the county of Northampton,

A letter of the tenth instant from Colonel James Moore, inclo- sing a record of the conviction of himself and a number of others whose names are annexed, late the inhabitants of the county of Northumberland, and praying a respite of the collection of the fines imposed upon him and them, was read, and an order taken that the collection of the aforesaid fines be suspended for six months from the date of Colonel Moore's application, and that the Sheriff of the county of Northumberland be instructed to govern himself accordingly. Resolved, That Council will recommend to the General Assem- bly at their next setting, the passing a law to remedy the inconve- nience thus represented.
A return of an election for a Justice of the Peace, held in the district of Rockhill and Bedminster, Bucks county, was read, and Samuel Smith, Esquire, appointed a Justice of the Peace, agreeably to the said return.
Mr. Smith was also commissionated a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for the said county.
A resolution of the General Assembly upon the subject of monies due upon the impost laws yet outstanding, was read, and an order taken that the Collector for the Port be directed to take such means as he may think most speedy and effectual for collect- ing the same.
A letter from John Howell, Esquire, of Germantown, declining to serve longer as a Justice of the Peace, was read, and his resigna- tion accepted.

The petition of Richard Hackett was re-considered, and an order taken that he be discharged from the necessity of finding security for his good behaviour, agreeably to the order of the court as rep- resented in their records, upon condition that he discharge his fees and depart immediately from the State.

The Comptroller General's report upon the accounts of Captain Thomas Robinson, for his disbursements, subsistence, and allow- ance in and for raising his Ranging company, was read, and an or- der taken that he be paid the ballance, amounting to one hundred and twenty-nine pounds four shillings and six pence, in State money, according to resolution of Assembly dated the sixteenth of December, 1784.
A letter from the Honorable Thomas McKean, Esquire, stating the case of a certain Abraham Bare, an attainted traitor, and pray- ing the forgiveness of Council, was read.
The Council met.
