Elder. First located at Heber City, moved to Provo, and returned to Heber Clty and was the milier for the Abram Hatch Mlliing Co. In 1879 moved to Ashley Valley, at which piace, during the winter the people nearly starved to death; he took stones and made burrs for the grinding of what grain they had; the horses and cattie nearly ail died of starvation, and those that were llving were so weak they could not work, so the men pulled the sweep that turned the burrs for the grinding of flour and thus pre- vented starvation. He was the pioneer milier at Vernal, which he conducted until 1911. He was one of the original locators of the mineral velns at Park City, Utah. Black Hawk Indian war veteran.
