REPORT OF THE WATER AND SEWERAGE BOARD

Water Department

The old water system went out of commission, October 26, 1932, the State water being turned on this date, giving the Town the long looked for Hydrant Service.

During the year, we have added 33 new water takers and lost one old taker, who would not connect with the new system and installed a system of his own.

There were eight water takers who refused to have new services put in, so the Town would not install meters unless they put in cement lined pipe. In order to cover the cost of the amount of water they use from the new system over the old system, we have raised their rates.

We recommend an appropriation of $3,500 for the first six months expenses, after that the new water rates will take care of all expenses. !

SEWER DEPARTMENT

Sanitary Sewers

There have been four stoppages in the Sewer System; two on Miller Street, and two on East Main Street, caused by tree roots. They have been cleaned out and left in good condition.

The Sewer Beds have had the usual care and are in good condition. The beds need new gravel spread on them this year.

We recommend an appropriation of $800 for the year 1933.

Juvenile 4,398

Non-fiction 2,782

$81.50 has been turned over to the Town Treasurer for fines collected.

In conclusion, the trustees recommend that the appropria- tion for the upkeep of the library for the coming year shall be $1,800 including the dog taxes.

94

We realize the financial conditions of the citizens of the Town, and for that reason, we, ourselves, have voted to reduce the amount of appropriation 10% as of other years in spite of the fact that we believe that the library should be, and is, of more benefit during this period of enforced unemployment.

Respectfully submitted,

ANNE C. DONLAN, Secretary.
