SPECIAL ELECTION January 16, 1933


Pursuant to a Warrant issued by the Selectmen, the inhabitants of the Town of Medfield, duly warned and notified in the manner prescribed by law, met at the Town Hall on the sixteenth day of January, 1933, at twelve o'clock noon; and the following action was taken on the article in the Warrant :-


Article 1. To choose the following Town Officers:


One Treasurer


One Member of the Water and Sewerage Board


The polls were opened at 12 o'clock noon and closed at 7.00 p. m.


Cards of Instruction and Specimen Ballots were posted as required by law.


The ballot box was examined and found in good order and at close of voting agreed with the check lists in the number of ballots cast.


The following named persons appointed by the Select- men and sworn by the Town Clerk were assigned to duty as follows: Louise Brennan and Joel E. Heard to distri- bute ballots; Anne Young and Leopold K. Gottlieb to check at ballot box ; Martha E. Blood, Catherine E. Clancy, Michael J. English and Arthur S. Atherton, Tellers; Constable William J. Kelly in charge of the ballot box.


The ballots were counted in open meeting and the total vote cast was 370.


The following named persons having received the larg- est number of votes were declared elected.

ANNUAL MEETING March 6, 1933


Pursuant to a Warrant issued by the Selectmen, the inhabitants of the Town of Medfield, duly warned and notified in the manner prescribed by law, met at the Town Hall on the sixth day of March, 1933, at six o'clock in the forenoon to elect their coming officers for the ensuing year.


Article 1. To choose all Town Officers required to be elected annually by ballot; to wit:


One Moderator, One Town Clerk, One Treasurer, One Collector of Taxes, Three Constables, One Tree Warden, One Member of the Water and Sewerage Board, all for one year.


One Selectman, One Assessor, One Member of the School Committee, Two Trustees of the Public Library, One Member of the Board of Health, One Cemetery Com- missioner, One Member of the Water and Sewerage Board, for three years.


One Member of the Planning Board for five years.


The polls were opened at 6:15 a. m., and closed at 2 p. m.


Cards of Instruction and Specimen Ballots were posted as required by law.


The ballot box was examined and found in good work- ing order and at the close of voting agreed with the check lists in the number of ballots cast.

If a majority of votes in answer to said question are in the affirmative, then this act shall thereupon take effect, but not otherwise.


352 voting in the affirmative and 399 voting in the negative.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING FOR THE TRANSACTION OF BUSINESS


March 13, 1933


The meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7 p. m.


The remaining articles in the Warrant for the Annual Meeting were taken up and acted on as follows:


Article 3. To choose Fence Viewers, Field Drivers and Pound Keeper.


Voted, to be left to the discretion of the Selectmen.


Article 4. To see if the town will vote to accept the reports of the several Town Officers for the past year.


Voted, that the several reports be accepted.


Article 5. To see if the town will vote to rescind the vote of the Town Meeting, March 6, 1922, providing for the election annually of one Selectman to serve for the term of three years, or do or act anything in relation thereto. (Petition).


Finance Committee recommended dismissal.


Voted, that the article be dismissed.


Article 6. To see if the town will vote to elect three Selectmen annually to serve for the term of one year, or do or act anything in relation thereto. (Petition).


Finance Committee recommended dismissal.


Voted, that the article be dismissed.


Article 7. To appropriate and raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the expenses for the town for the ensuing year.

To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1933, and to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the finan- cial year beginning January 1, 1933.
