ANNUAL MEETING March 5, 1934
Pursuant to a Warrant issued by the Selectmen, the in- habitants of the Town of Medfield, duly warned and noti- fied in the manner prescribed by law, met at the Town Hall on the fifth day of March, 1934, at six o'clock in the fore- noon,to elect their Town officers for the ensuing year.
Article 1. To choose all Town Officers required to be elected annually by ballot : to wit:
One Moderator, One Town Clerk, One Treasurer, One Collector of Taxes, Three Constables, One Tree Warden, One Member of the Board of Health, all for one year. One Selectman, One Assessor, One Member of the School Com- mittee, Two Trustees of the Public Library, One Member of the Board of Health, One Cemetery Commissioner, One Member of the Water and Sewerage Board, all for three years. One Member of the Planning Board for five years.
Also to vote on the following questions :
a. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of all alcoholic beverages (whiskey, rum, gin, malt beverages, wines and all other alcoholic beverages) ? Yes, 319; No, 190; Blanks, 170.
b. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of wines and malt beverages (wines and beer, ale and all other malt beverages) ? Yes, 336; No, 159; Blanks, 184.
The polls were opened at 6:15 A. M. and closed at 2:00 P. M.
Cards of Instruction and Specimen Ballots were posted as required by law.

The ballot box was examined and found in working or- der, and at the close of voting agreed with the check lists in the number of ballots cast.
The following named persons appointed by the Selectmen and sworn by the Temporary Town Clerk were assigned to duty as follows : Louise Brennan and Joel E. Heard to dis- tribute ballots; Eleanor Marcionette and George Miller to check at the ballot box; Alexander MacLean, James Ather- ton,. Richard Conrick, Henry E. Young, Jr., Catherine E. Clancy, Martha E. Blood, Edna Huebener and Luther Cheney as Tellers ; Constable, Coleman J. Hogan in charge of the ballot box.
The ballots were counted in open meeting and the total vote cast was 679. After the ballots had been counted and tabulated the presiding officer Frank D. McCarthy an- nounced the result as follows :

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING FOR THE TRANSACTION OF BUSINESS
March 12, 1934
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7:30 P. M. The remaining articles in the Warrant for the Annual Meeting were taken up and acted on as fol- lows :
Article 2. To choose Fence Viewers, Field Drivers, and Pound Keeper.
Voted, that the Selectmen be authorized to choose Fence Viewers, Field Drivers and Pound Keeper.
Allan A. Kingsbury, Coleman J. Hogan, Fred C. Chick were appointed Fence Viewers and Field Drivers.
Alphonso L. Allen was appointed as Pound Keeper.
Article 3. To see if the town will vote to accept the reports of the several Town Officers for the past year.
Voted to accept the reports as a group.
Article 4. To see if the town will vote to appropriate and raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the expenses for the ensuing year.
Voted, that the following sums be raised and appropri- ated.

Article 5. To see if the town will authorize the Treas- urer with the approval of the Selectmen to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the present municipal year, and issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the present muni- cipal year.
The Finance Committee recommended that the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen be and here- by is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the taxes of the municipal year beginning January 1, 1934 and to issue a note or notes therefor pay- able within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the taxes of said municipal year.
Voted, that the recommendation of the Finance Com- mittee be adopted.
Article 6. To determine in what manner the taxes shall be collected for the ensuing year, also determine what percentage shall be allowed the Collector for the ensuing year.
Voted, that taxes shall be paid not later than the fifteenth day of October of each year, and on all taxes remaining unpaid after the first day of November, interest shall be paid at the rate of six per cent per annum from the fifteenth day of October until such taxes are paid, and that the Col- lector receive one per cent on all taxes collected by him.
Article 7. To see what compensation the Town will allow the members of the Fire Department for the ensuing year.

Voted, that the members of the Fire Department be paid the sum of Nineteen Dollars and Fifty Cents ($19.50) per year and one Dollar per hour while working at fires.
Article 8. To see if the town will authorize the Collector to use all means in the collection of the taxes as the Treas- urer might if elected to that office.
Voted, that the Collector be instructed to use all means and processes provided by law for the collection of all taxes remaining unpaid after the first day of December, Nineteen hundred and thirty-four.
Article 9. To see how much per hour the town will al- low for work on the highways for the ensuing year.
Voted, that the price of labor per hour on the highway be left to the discretion of the Selectmen.
Article 10. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to appoint one of its members as Inspector of Animals, or do or act anything in relation thereto.
The Finance Committee recommended to pass.
Voted, that the recommendation of the Finance Com- mittee be accepted.
Article 11. To see what compensation the town will al- low the Inspector of Animals for the ensuing year.
Finance Committee recommended $150.00.
Voted, that the sum of $150.00 be appropriated and granted.
Article 12. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Water and Sewerage Board to appoint one of its mem- bers as Water Registrar, or do or act anything in relation thereto.
Finance Committee recommended to pass.
Voted, that the recommendation be accepted.

Article 13. To see what compensation the town will al- low the Water Registrar for the ensuing year.
Finance Committee recommended $50.00.
Voted, that the recommendation be accepted.
Article 14. To see if the town will vote to accept the sum of $100 as Perpetual Trust Fund for the care of the Wood Lot in the Vine Lake Cemetery, the interest thereof or as may be necessary to be used for said care.
Voted, that this sum be accepted in the usual form.
Article 15. To see if the town will vote to authorize the School Committee to accept the contribution of the teachers to be used for school purpose, or do or act any- thing in relation thereto.
Finance Committee recommended that this article be accepted.
Voted to accept the recommendation.
Article 16. To see if the town will vote the money re- ceived from fines and the sale of discarded books be used by the Library, or do or act anything in relation thereto.
Voted, that the article be dismissed.
Article 17. To see if the town will vote to transfer the sum of $900 from the Lowell Mason School Fund to the Sewer Department for the purchase of approximately 4 acres of land owned by Gemi Catenacci and approximately 21 acres of land owned by Daisey Wilbur adjoining the present sewer beds.
Finance Committee recommended that this article be accepted.
Voted to accept the recommendation.
Article 18. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of $177.56 to cover overdraft in 1933 Snow Ap- propriation.
