investigated and asked the occupants what they were doing there. They said they were sleepy and pulled off the road. The officers took them to the station and checked the operator's license and registration. As everything appeared all right they released them. In the morning the number of this car was sent out be- cause of the discovery of the break at the store in the district where this car was found parked the previous night. By the quick thought of these officers sending out this registration number, these men were later caught in Nashua, N. H. In the car at the time they were caught they were carrying a 45 automatic and a 32 calibre revolver, sticks of dynamite, percussion caps and fuses and burglar tools. They were wanted for a number of grain store breaks in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. This was a very good piece of police work and we feel that these officers should be given special mention. They have so much against these men in New Hampshire and Vermont that they could not turn them over to this department. In conclusion, I wish to thank the townspeople and other members of the Department for their co-opera- tion during the year.

Respectfully submitted,

COLEMAN J. HOGAN,
