Book O, page 37-Bee it knowne to all men whom it may Conserne yt this writing witneseth an agreement betwene John Miller Junior & Jacob Daitors of ye one partie : and Awabetum and Abell ; Indians of ye other partie : viz That we ye said Awabetum & Abell doe Ingage to goe to sea to kill whales & other great fish in our owne parsons for ye said John Millor & Jacob daiton they providing boat & Craft fitt for ye designe : & to cart what bluber & bone we have to our halfe shares : from ye fort pond westward to ye old sloope if we goe to sea at Muntacut : & if we goe at whom then to cart at whom according to Custom allowing us a halfe share of what wee get, where uppon we doe hereby Ingage & bind our selves to goe to sea for ye said John Millor & Jacob daiton this next Insuing season & from time to time attend it both at sea to kill whales & to secure them : And if wee doe not get soe much this next season as will pay ye said John & Jacob for whales they have & doe trust us then wee doe Ingage to go to sea for them one season after another untill we have paid whatsoever we shalbee Indebted to them : and for ye true performance hereof wee doe severallie bind our selves in a bond of ten pounds in currant pay to be paid to ye said John & Jacob uppon our nonperformance provided wee

Book A 1132-These presents witnesseth that I John Stretton of Easthampton in the County of Suffolk of the Province of New York for divers good causes me thereunto moving, especially for a consideration of land hereafter speci- fied, do make over by way of exchange into the hands and possession of Stephen Hand of said Town & Connty afore-said a certain part and parcel of land situate, lying and being in Easthampton at a place commonly called and known by the name of Wainscot, bounded by the land of John Brook, East and by the Beach and South Sea South, by Joseph Strettones, and I the said John Stretton's land West and North it being ten acres of land be the same more or be it less all which said parcel of land with all privileges and appurtenances thereun- to belonging. I the said John Stretton do for myself, my heirs executors, or admistrators acknowledge to have made over and exchanged into the hands and possession of the said Stephen Hand his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns they and every or either of them the same, to have and to hold forever without any let, hindrance or molestation from me my heirs, executors, administrators or other person what soever by, from or under me.
For and in consideration of the above exchanged certain tract of land, I the said Stephen Hand of East- hampton in the County of Suffolk of the Province of New York have and do by these presents for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns fully and firmly

make over by way of exchange into the hands and possession of the abovesaid John Stretton, his heirs, executors, adminis- trators and assigns all that my certain tract and parcel of land situate, lying and being in Easthampton at a place commouly known and called by the name of the North-west plain being in all ten acres be the same more or be it less, bounded North ward by the land of Stephen and Isack Hedgis Eastward by Common highway, Southward the land of Thomas Osborn, Westward by the land of the widow Hand, all which said parcel of land with all profits, privileges and appurtenances there unto belonging, I the said Stephen Hand do for myself my heirs, executors or administrators acknowledge to have made over into the hand and possession of John Stretten.

taine Parsell of land in ye little plaine along by Georgica pond side from ye north end of John Hoppings land & soe along by Mr John Mullfords land as farr as the Southerne end of Thomas Dyamends land all which said land thus lyinge be- twene theise Three lotts & ye aforesaid Georgica pond The Towne have given & graunted unto him ye aforesaid John Pinny & his heires or assignes for ever uppon theise ffollowing Conditions yt hee ye said John Pinny is to continue here & worke of his trade for ye space of foure yeeres ye people give- ing him reasonable satisfaction for his work & labor : but yet if hee should bee taken away by death before ye Expiration of ye aforesaid foure yeeres yet yt this land last above men- tioned shall remaine to him & to heires for ever.

whereas uppon Consideration of ye State & Condition of Mr Thomas Squire how it have been with him in respect of his reason & understanding, this Town have Thought meete to dis- pence with him for ye present in respect of his rates for pub- lict Charg since hee came to this Towne And ye select men or Oversseers having Considered what his pticular Charg with refference to ye Ministers Maintenance & alsoe ye publick Charge of ye Towne Rates might have bene for his part for these 21 yeers & they having cast upp what his p ticuler Charge should be & they have found it to bee 15s a yeere which cometh to by that Account about Eighteene pound. Alsoe The towne by their Order have Caused a house io bee built for him in ye yeere 84 & the Charg thereof being cast upp is Twenty foure pounds & Thirteene Shillings & the Totall sum yt the Towne have forborne & laid out for him cometh to about 42£ 13s which the Inhabitants of this Towne of Easthampton doe conceive it to bee Just & Equall that at ye decease of ye aforesaid Mr Squire that the sum

BOOK O, Page 21 Easthampton June ye 16 : 1685 agred & voated at a Legall Towne meeting That there shall bee kept in ye towne by such as have betwene Thirtie & forty head of cattell a good bull for ye Townes use And where two can make upp yt numbr they are to keepe a bull betwene them & soe where three men can make upp ye numbr bet- wene Thirtie & forty head of cattell those three men are to keepe a bull, but such as have under eight cattell are left to their libertie this order ye select men of ye Towne are to take care to see to ye Performance of ye same from yeere to yeere according to their best discression & all those yt doe refuse or neclect to keepe & provide according to this order they are to forfit ye vallew of a good bull to bee bought with ye pay by ye select men for ye Townes use :
Also agreed by a major voate yt for every twentie sheepe in ye Towne fflock ye owners are obliged to keepe a good Ram for them & in case any pson or psons bee found by ye select men of this towne from yeere to yeere to be defective herein they shall forfitt ye vallew of a good Ram to bee bought with ye pay by ye select men & put into ye flock før the townes use :
Alsoe agreede & voated ye day & yeere last above written yt the burying place of this Towne bee sufficientlie fenced in with a good peeke pale at ye discression of ye select men of ye Towne betwene this & ye first of Aprill next at ye townes Charge & of yt bigness as may bee Judged Convenient to serve the Towne.
Alsoe voated & agreed ye day & yeere above written yt Mr. Scallenger shall have yt vacant peece of land at ye end of his addition & next to Richard Shaw Southward of ye high way att ye price of foure pound & tenn shillings the acre prsent pay & Robert Dayton & Leiftnt John wheeler is appointed to measure it out to him.

Book 4, page 7 .- this 29t day of June 1685 the townsmen of this town doe Let out all the grass of the highways belong- ing to the playns Boath East and west, and all the Common Land that is in the playns which was moed ye Last year by John Parsons weavver and John parsons Junr; that is Let out now to John Michell and he is to pay for it thirtyone Shillings and six pence as witness my hand.

Whereas you are Chosen by ye Town of East-hampton to goe upp to Yorke to treate with our Honorable governor Concerning the quitt rent of this towne Theise are therefore to Impower you thereunto for to act as our agents ; Provided you doe in noe way Infringe any bound or Priviledge yt is allreadie in our Pattent but only to Procure an Instrument from his Honor which shall assartaine our quitt rent to bee Equall with or not Exceedeing our Neighbor townes; And allsoe for a further Confirmation of our former right from ye former governors & this you are to Observe as yor Positive Instructions this 13th July, 1685.
