1. PETTIT, John, was in Roxbury, Mass., in 1639, and in Stratford in 1651. They soon removed to Stamford, Ct. Two of their children, Sarah and John, chose Abraham Ambler and Daniel Scofield as their guardians, Dec. 6, 1684, and the guardians were directed by the court to dispose of three other children ; the father and mother both being deceased. There was some property.

David brought with him his wife Sarah and six children. He died before Oct. 31, 1650, and his wid. m. George Hull, of Fairfield.
Judith, a maid of 16 years, not known to be a relative, came with the family to America from Stepney parish, London. She m. James Hayward.

He was in Stratford as early as Dec. 15, 1685, when land was first recorded to him. He resided at old Mill Green, and all his land seems to have been in that vicinity. He died Aug. 12, 1717.
