A flourishing village of i,600 inhabitants, in Portland township, Ionia county, on the D. L. & L. M. R. R., III miles from De- troit, 22 northwest of Lansing, and 14 south- east of Ionia. It lies between Grand and Looking-glass rivers, and has a splendid water-power on each river. It contains 2 flouring mills, 2 foundries, a school and of- fice furniture manufactory, a woolen mill, 2 planing mills, a sash and blind factory, a stave factory, 2 saw mills and a machine shop; also 2 hotels, 3 public school buildings and 5 churches. It is surrounded by a good farming country, and wheat and wool are largely shipped. Was settled in 1834; in- corporated, 1869. Express-American ; Tele- graph-Atlantic & Pacific. Wm. A village containing about 900 inhabitants on the shore of lake Huron, in Sanilac town-
ship, Sanilac county, II miles north of Lex- ington, and about 100 from Detroit. PULASKI.
A place of about 200 inhabitants in Pulaski township, Jackson county, 18 miles south- west of Jackson, and 5 due south of Con- cord, whence it has a daily mail.
