of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1956 and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within a year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws.


Article 116. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY : That the Town will, in conjunction with the Town of Holbrook, purchase or take by eminent domain proceedings, a tract of land comprising about ten (10) acres located at the easterly side of South Street, Holbrook, and supposed to be owned by Edward T. Dwyer Sand and Gravel Cor- poration and Harold and Manuel Schivik and Lewis C. and Alfred Wright and Baird and Maquire, Inc., and purchase a pump or pumps with gasoline auxiliary motors, erect a pump house and purchase any other material and perform such other work as may be necessary to complete an installation for an auxiliary water system, and the un- expended balance of the appropriation ($10,883.00) made under Article 21 of the Annual Town meeting held on April 4, 1955 be transferred for the purpose of this Article and that the Water Commissioners be empowered to act in accordance with this Article and that the Town ratify and confirm any and all acts or things done by the Water Commissioners in pursance of the Vote taken under said Article 21 of the Annual Town Meeting held on April 4, 1955.

Article 5. VOTED: That the Town will vote to purchase the existing water lines and appurtenances, together with well, well-house, pump and other equip- ment and rights associated with the present installation on Celia Terrace and Washington Drive and that the sum of $1,500.00 be raised and appropriated for the same.


Article 6. VOTED: That the Town take by emi- nent domain, for the installation, servicing and repair of water lines, an easement on the following unaccepted streets or ways so called; Washington Drive and Celia Terrace and that the sum of $1.00 be raised and appro- priated therefor.


Article 7. VOTED: That the Town instruct the Board of Water Commissioners to install a two (2) inch main on Washington Drive for approximately 150 feet and raise and appropriate the sum of $300.00 therefor.


Article 8. VOTED: That the Town instruct the Board of Water Commsisioners to install a two (2) inch main on Celia Terrace for approximately 150 feet and raise and appropriate the sum of $300.00 therefor.

VOTED: That the present School Plan- ning and Building Committee be dissolved and that the following persons be appointed by the Moderator to serve on the School Building and Planning Committee; Eileen Courtney, Arthur Hoeg, Francis Leahy, John Hannon, Ernest Martin, Oscar Foote, Supt. Thomas Warren, Ass't Supt. William Lynch and Oscar Meissner and four addi- tional members to be appointed by the Moderator.


VOTED: That a rising vote of thanks and confidence be given the people who have served faithfully and well on the School Planning and Building Committee during the past year.


VOTED : That the Town authorize the Moderator to appoint a Committee of Seven (7) Citizens, including the Town Manager, if this is in accordance with the Town Manager Act, the Director of Highways and five other citizens, to meet with the County Commissioners to im- press on them the necessity of constructing Oak Street under the 1957 Chapter 90 Program, said committee to ascertain from the County Commissioners the cost of constructing said street and giving assurance that local contribution of 25% of construction costs will be made available by the Town.


VOTED: That the Town authorize the Moderator to appoint a Committee of three (3) citizens to investi- gate and report on the advisability of establishing the office of Town Engineer in the Town of Randolph. Said Committee is to recommend the appropriation required for the salary of a registered engineer and the cost of operating an Engineering Department, if found feasible, and to report their findings at the next annual town meeting.


VOTED. That a rising vote of confidence be given the Board of Selectmen.

Article 122. VOTED: To accept report on re- duction of fire insurance rates as read by Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Joseph Semensi. Copy of the report is filed with the Town Clerk.
