To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or borrow under Chapter 44 of the General Laws or under authority of any applicable law, the sum of $22,000 for a new fire truck equipped with a 1000 G.P.M. pump; the 1923 Maxim truck to be disposed of, as petitioned for by the Fire Department and others.

To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to purchase or take by Eminent Domain 8 acres at the Northwest corner of the intersection of Pleas- ant Street and North Street as shown on Assessors Plan No. 170 part of parcel No. 62 owned by Peter J. Collins, and to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds the sum of $2,500 in connection therewith, as peti- tioned for by the Sewer Commissioners and the Town Manager.

Amendment proposed by Mr. Wasserman as follows: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds the sum of $3,100.00 for the following purposes at School Lane, Belcher School:


A. The sum of $1,000.00 for


(1) Scraping and oiling School Lane from No. Main Street to Belcher Street.


(2) Removal of boulders and debris on the south side of School Lane.


(3) Cementing of the existing rock retaining wall on the south side of Belcher School.


B. The sum of $2,100.00 for


(4) The construction of a side walk on the south side of School Lane from No. Main St., to Belcher St.


C. That School Lane, upon completion of above work be accepted by the Town of Randolph.

Moderator Carr called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M. Adjournment moved until 8:25 P.M. Moderator called the meeting to order at 8:25 P.M. and asked the same Tellers previously appointed to serve.


Article 68. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $8,000 to pave Castleton Avenue, as petitioned for by Edward F. Heim and others.


Amendment offered that the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1000.00 to repair and oil (2) coats Castleton Ave. from South Street to the McNeil School.


Amendment No. 2 that the sum of $3000.00 be raised and appropriate to construct the road properly with drainage and to oil (2) coats.


Article 68. VOTED: Original Article and Amend- ment No. 1 DEFEATED by a voice vote. Amendment No. 2 CARRIED by voice vote.

Article 81. To see if the Town will vote the follow- ing: The Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized and directed to grant three five hundred dollar ($500.00) scholarships to be known as the Randolph Scholarships, subject to appropriation made for such purposes, to wor- thy students who are residents of the Town, possess the requisite ability and are in need of financial assistance. The scholarships must be to an accredited college or uni- versity located within the Commonwealth, and raise and appropriate $1,500 for this purpose, or take any other action in relation thereto, as petitioned for by the Board of Selectmen.


Article 81. The Moderator, speaking as Town Counsel, ruled that in fact this article was illegal but that it might be made legal by a later act of the legis- lature. An amendment was offered that if legislation is necessary from the State Legislature, action be taken to have it enacted following adoption of this article. DEFEATED by a voice vote as amended.


Article 18 reconsidered: Moved that the sum of $800.00 be raised and appropriated. VOTED by a voice vote.

Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from the North Street Walk Light Account the sum of $800.00 to erect a chain link fence on Town owned prop- erty opposite the Belcher School as petitioned for by the Board of Selectmen and others.


Article 5. VOTED UNANIMOUSLY : That the Town transfer from the North Street Walk Light Account the sum of $800.00 to erect a chain link fence on Town owned property opposite the Belcher School.


Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Town Clerk to compile an immediate, complete and up to date listing of all citizens twenty-one years of age and over. This listing shall contain the name, address, age, occupation or profession, length of service if pos- sible and shall be in alphabetical order as to name and occupation. This card system shall be retained in the office of the Town Clerk and shall be made available to all appointing authorities, for the purpose of select- ing committees, as petitioned for by Felix Carlino and others.

Article 6. VOTED: That the Town instruct the Town Clerk to compile an immediate, complete and up to date listing of all citizens twenty-one years of age and over. This listing shall contain the name, address, age, occupation or profession, length of service if possible and shall be in alphabetical order as to name and occupation. This card system shall be retained in the office of the Town Clerk and shall be made available to all appoint- ing authorities, for the purpose of selecting committees.


Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Board of Selectmen to sell the Prescott Grammer School property; land and building thereon, or take any other action thereto as petitioned for by the Board of Selectmen.
