CHURCH OF CHRIST ANNOUNCEMENT.
LOCALS.
Bro. and Sister Fermin McCormick are the happy parents of a new boy.
Sister Dela Noble's little baby has been very sick for several days.
Bro. Dunbar is receiving the con- gratulations of his friends. It is a ' boy. All are doing well.
The pastor preached at Peru, ind. last Tuesday evening. Bro. Falmore is entering upon the sixth year of his ministry at that place.
Do you read the Announcement? If not, we do not wonder that so many are indifferent to the appeals that are made. Every member should read every word of every issue.
Our deacons are becoming too careless about their duties at the church. We should have a full force present and on time to assist in the communion service. Let us learn the importance of doing things decently and in order.
The ladies have done very well under all the circumstances with their lunch counter. If the church people however had all been willing we might as well have made $100.00 as what we have. The opportunitive however is gone.
Mrs. Smyth has returned from a visit east.

"] long to see you (at church) that I may impart into you some spiritual gift."
"Who ( God) will render to every man according to his works; to them that by patience in well doing, seck for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life."
"So then brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh to live after the flesh; for if ye live after the fiesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God."
Every one should read the state- ment prepared by the finance com- mittee and published in this issue. The Lord's cause demands the hearty co-operation of every member and it can not be made to succeed without it. Let us have a full attendance and a large offering next Lord's day.
There are just ten more issues to complete this volume of the Announce- ment. It has been a great help to us in our work all the year and we be- lieve that it has done great good. We have received many encouraging remarks from our readers and trust that they have been merited.
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH.
A short time ago we called your' attention to the tact, through the columns of our valuable paper, that we owed Bio, Rice $100.00 Sept. ist, and also have tallen short in Septem- ber and thus far in October. We also mentioned the fact that Bro, Rice had given the church about $400,00 this year, which was a sacrifice on his part; and he did it cheerfully. Now is the time for us to do our part, and that is to pay him what we owe him. The facts were stated last lord's Day to the congregation by Bro. polman when he said that it we hoped to keep Bro. Rice as our pastor we must pay him, and not to pay him would be disastrous to the church. We, your Finance Committee, indorse ilus state- ment. To the members who pay regularly, may we not ask you to in- crease your offering for a time at least so that the church can be relieved of pressing demands? Brethren, we must have better offerings. to the members who are delinquent, and to you who have paid but little, and you who have paid none at all, we need your help. It is wrong for you to expect the church to prosper when you do not do your part. By your indifference and neglect to give as the Lord's work demands ot every true Christian you have compelled us to bring this matter before you in a public way. Now if you desire the work to prosper we will hear from you, and that soon. The Lord loveth a cheerful giver.
Yours in the master cause, C. W. HOLVERSTOTT, DR. T. H. MCCORMICK, F. H. HOBBS, ELIAS AKE.

IMPORTANT ITEMS,
Tomorrow will be observed as Forefathers Day.
All old disciples will be interested . in tomorrows services.
Our young people should become familiar with the history of restoration.
Notice the subjects for next Sun- days sermons. We hope they will prove attractive and that every dis- . ciple in Fort Wayne will hear them presented.
' INo people have been so wonderfully blessed of God as we have. The cause we are permitted to plead has made most wonderful progress and is still proving attractive.
..
The cause of prinative Christianity has made a gain of 300 per cent. in Washington in ten years. In Chicago it has gained 200 per cent. Many other cities show similar gains.
. Nearly one-half million dollars was raised by the Disciples of Christ last year with which to evangelize the world. About one-third of this was sent to the foreign field, the rest was spent in our own land in various ways,
EXCUSES. We seldom realize how" weak and trifling our excuses, for. failing to do our duty, sound to others or we would not present them. Here are some of the most common. "[ am too buisy." "1 am tired and want to rest." ""I had company." "My clothes are not good enough." "It was too hot." "It was too cold." "It was too far." Ect. Every candid person would admit that in nine cases ont of ten these are not the real reas- ons. The truth is we do not care enough about it to stir ourselves. In- difference is almost as bad as un- worthness. It is as easy to bear ac- tive opposition as it is to witness the disinterestidness of so many so-called Christian people. The large army of hangers-on is the curse of all our churches. They should be put into a reat hot revival and either boiled or burned.
ENTERTAINMENTS. We were gratified to witness the response that was made to our call for subscribers for tickets to our proposed entertain- ment course. About 200 were prom- ised and If the thattet is properly pushed we feel quite sure of setling at least 100 more. If we can do this we feel quite certain of success. We are very desirous of this course. We need the money so badly and can get it this way and at the same time provide an enjoyable and profitable course ot entertainments for our peo- ple who do not feel able to patronize a more expensive course. Let every one netp it along. We will doubtless publish dates next week.

Same old story tomorrow. ,
Don't put yourselves out any to come to church tomorrow for you will hear nothing but the Gospel any- way.
If it should be slightly rainy to- morrow don't come to church, you might soil the feathers on your hat or the blacking on your shoes.
If you have worked hard all the week don't come to church tomorrow. There is nothing about the house of worship to rest one from anxious worldly care.
If you live too far away don't bother yourself to come to church to- morrow. You will need the nickle you would nave to spend to pay your car fare Monday or Tuesday to go down town to do some shopipng. Save the nickles.
If you havn't any money don't come to church for nobody is welcome in our church but the wealthy and great. It would embarrass you so, not to be dressed like the other mil- lion heirs who attend our church.
If you happen to have a little money don't come to church with it for we are quite sure to pass the collection basket, and your conscience might annoy you so you would be compelled to throw in a dime or quarter. Be on your guard about such matters.
If you can think of anybody to in- vite to your house tomorrow, or of any place to go to see some friends, I would not have you forgot such a high and exalted privilege, just for the sake of assembling around the Lord's table to partake of the emblems of his dying love. Jesus of course, is no friend to you.
Now let me beg of you dear friends don't put yourselves out any about attending church. It is all unneces- sary. Of course there is more in- spiration in the pews when they are empty, so there is no need of your presence. We built a fine church but then that was simply as an ornament to the city, and it will easily pay for itself, or if it don't we can perhaps sell it. It would be an ornament to the city just the same and surely it doesn't stand for any principal that calls for any discomfort or sacrifice on your part. Just rest ersy, don't think or worry about the church. You have to buy a home and educate your children and all these things are expensive and call for more or less sacritice and you do not need the church, so let it go, eat drink and be merry. Have a good time. The church will take care of itself or if it don't what of it.
Reflect upon the above dear friends. We only want you to think about these matters and have written it all in good humor. Many of our people are very faithful but some are not and to these we appeal.

"Entertainment King is well applied to him." -- Hutchinson, Kan. News.
"Mr. Barker kept 2000 people laughing continously." - Pittsburg Dispatch.
The above magnificant course is offered to the public on the following remarkably low terms- Twenty-five cents buys a ticket which admits the holder to the first entertainment with- out extra charge, and to the other two numbers for only tocents each, making the entire course but 45 cents, We are safe in saying that no such opportunity was ever offered to the people of this city. The committee are doing this as a test and depend upon the liberal patronage of the peo- ple to pay out, as the course is a high priced one in every respect. Secure tickets early.
