Subscription Price, . 25 Ceals Per Year. Trial Subscription, Three Months, - 10 Cents.

IMPORTANT ITEMS.

We greatly appreciate our increas- ing audiences.

Let us make tomorrow a diy of rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

This issue is intended to bear a very special invitation to you to come to church tomorrow.

Your presence will till the space for one person. It will add to the size of the audience and will give inspiration to the service.

Our services last Lord's day were full of profit and inspiration to all who attended. There were good au- diences both morning and evening and all were happy. We want you all tomorrow.

The series of sermons on Baptism will close next Lord's day evening with a sermon on the design or object of baptism. We want our house crowded with earnest listeners.

The sermon next Lord's day morn- ing on "The Church in the World of Today," will be an appeal to the Church to be loyal to its Heaven-given mission, and to depend upon the power of the living Word of God for success.

The tea at Sister Gardner's given by herself with Sister Sloan was well patronized and was worthy of il.

A FINE RECORD. We want to call especial attention to the article in Last week's Standard, entitled "Twenty Years at Kentucky's Capitol." It begins on the first page. What the author says about long pastorales, steady and healthy growth, and love as a factor in church development is worth our consideration.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT. Our church paper now goes regularly into nearly every home represented in our church. It makes regular visits into Ohio, Massachusets, Kentucky, Ilt- nois, Kansas, Michigan, Montana, California and various places in Indiana besides Fort Wayne. Several church papers have been modled atter it already and we are having trequent inquiries about its management, cost, etc. Less than one hundred, how- ever, have paid the subscription price. The premium offers are still good. Brethren, let us hear from you.

A REVIVAL. At the regular meeting of the official board last Monday evening it was voted to begin a meeting about the 20th of Feb- ruary. Bro. W. D. Starr of Muncie will be with us the first week and after that we shall depend on our own resources. Now is a good time, as it seems to us, to reap the fruit of last fall's sowing. We sincerely hope our people will take a deep interest in this work from the beginning and plan for a great meeting.

WANTED. Five hundred people at every service. More men at our regular praver meetings. More people interested in all departments of our work. More ladies who will wink in the Aid Society. More regulir weekly contributors to our current expenses. More zeal on the part of all tor Christ and for the Church.

Come to church tomorrow.

Come to church tomorrow. Bring a friend.

Our audiences continue to increase in size.

Once more we urge the attendance of our people at our regular services. Nothing so inspires the people as a good audience. . Help to make it good.

The Announcement each week is intended to arouse your interest with reference to the services on the follow- ing Lord's day. Read every word it contains.

Our meeting begins one week from tomorrow. Bro. W. D. Starr will preach for us each evening the first week. You should all hear this man of experience and power.

May we not hope that every mem- ber of the church will attend the meetings from the start unless hin- dered by some reason which cannot be avoided? We crave the earnest sympathy and support of each one.

It is one thing to say, "let us have a meeting," and quite another to have it. . Our official board have voted unanimously for it and have promised to support it in every way.

FOREIGN MISSIONS. The cal- lection tor toreign missions will be taken in all our churches on the first Lonl's day in March. It is desired to raise $100,000 this year by collections alone, and it this is done every church will have to help. This is our work and we should recognize it as such. We are going to make an effort to receive an offering from every mem- her of our church. Under om present circumstances we cannot ask for a large amount from any one person, but we can ask each one to help a little.

NEW SUBSCRIBERS. In order to make the Announcement of as much practical benetit as possible, we want to increase its circulation. We want it to go especially into homes in this city where it will be read and leave an impression for & hust and His church. "We would like to double the subscription list this month in order that the paper may serve us to the best advantage during our meet- ing. We make this offer, therefore: We will send the paper free, from now until April 1st, to as many addresses as the members of the church may give us. We want the addresses of people who will, in your opinion, appreciate the paper and perhaps be led to attend our services by reason of it.

THE CHURCH OF CHRIST. It may be all right to say that one lodge is as good as another, and it may be true that one religious denomination is as good as another ; although, doubt- less, every person would express preferences in both cases; but between these and the church of Jesus Christ there can be no choice. The lodges are altogether human, denominations have human names and human

creeds, but the Church of thist wears divinely approved names and is governed by divine standards only.

THE BROTHERHOOD BAN QUET. The first regular meeting of the Brotherhood was held Tuesday evening at the church. A very neatly arranged banquet was served, and asts were responded to as follows: The Brotherhood, O. P. Eversole. The Athletic Department, Ray Wood- bull; The Social Department, 1. Shepler; The Intellectual Department, Dr. W. D. calvin; The Spintual Department, P. 1. Rice. Prot. Wm. 1. Adams also gave us a very happy speech. Bio. Wm. Baty was elected treasurer in the place of Bro. Russel who resigned. It was truly an ispir- ing meetnig.

Bro. Starr of Muncie will be with us every evening next week. Do not fail to hear him.

The meeting will continue only so long as the interest is sufficient to warrant it.

We occasionally see a person in an audience whom we devoutly wish had to preach to his own face for half an hour.

If our own members had been at our last Sunday evening service, as many of them might, our house would have been crowded. We had a good audience as it was.

Unless there are evident signs ot deep interest on the part of our peo- ple, the first week will be the last week of our meeting. Our house should be full of earnest listeners every evening next week.

A hearty invitation to the city school teachers to be present next Sunday evening.

About forly ladies were at the tea Thursday,

HOW TO STUDY To many intelli- THE BIBLE. gent people the Bible is a mysterious and sealed book, and largely so because of a failure to apply a few simple rules of interpre- tation. It every student would bear in mind that the Bible is a record ot God's revelation of Himself to man, not a treatise written tor an occasion or a condition, and that Good's revel- ation of Himsell has been gradual and progressive, he would grasp at once the general character of the Book and be able to study it more intelligently.

THE LAW AND Every portion of THE GOSPEL. the Bible is not of equal importance of value to us who live under the Christian dispensation. The Law of Moses was good in its place and served its purpose, but it is not tor us, who are not under law, but under grace, except as a record ot what is past, it having been nailed to the cross and taken out of the way. A failure to recognize this simple dis- tintion has led many into error, and not a few are still walking in dark- ness tor this same reason

THE THIEF ON Not intrequently THE CROSS. do we hear people cite the thiel on the cross as an example of conversion. Whether the thiet was saved or not or how he was saved, whether with or without baptism, has absolutely no bearing upon how we are to be saved. The Law did not end until after the death of Jesus and therefore the thiet lived and died under the law. The terms of pardon under the covenant of Grace or the Gosel, were not an- nounced until Jesus had ascended to the Father and had been made both Lord and Christ, and the Holy Spirit

The Announcement grows in favor. Fine audiences greeted us on last Lord's Day.

We greatly appreciated the many kind things that were said of our ser- mons last Lord's Day.

The revival has started off very promisingly. If the interest con- tinues as we hope it may, we may look for a great blessing.

The solo by Miss Smyser, Sunday evening, was greatly appreciated. We hope that she may be so kind as to favor us again at some time.

The first entertainment of the series, which was given Friday evening, Feb. 18th, was a rare treat. The next one will be given either the 10th or the 17th of March.

[ The sermons by Bro. Starr have been of a character needed by our peo- ple. They not only taught us the Scriptures, but were full of heart power. Good results are sure to follow.

We anticipate a full house Lord's Day morning and evening. Let us not be disappointed. Many of our own people should be present, and many more will come.
