The Annual meeting was the best in our history.

The reports of the past year show decided gains over the previous years.

We begin the new Year with in- creased courage and hopefulness. The future is certainly bright.

The services last Lord's Day were full of encouragement. We had splendid audiences and good feeling prevailed.

Tomorrow is set apart as a day of special consecreation and praise. The weeks services have been admirably suited to prepare us for such a ser- vice. Let us have a tull attendance.

We rejoice in the continued unity and good feeling in the church and in the evidences of increased interest on the part of so many. We believe that the cause of Primitive Chris- tianity is brighter in Ft. Wayne than ever before.

OUR FLAG FOR '90.

On the first Lord's Day of the new year we untailed our flag for 1800. It bears the following mot- toes:

Ist. We expect regular and sys- tematic contributions from every member of the church.

2nd. We should and shall remem- ber the great missionary enterprises of our brotherhood during this our jubilee year.

Brd. We shall seek to intensify the spirituale life of all om members. 4th. We purpose to enter with renewed vigor upon an aggressive evangehstic campaign which, we trust, will last throughout the year.

These tour dechuations form our ralleying call to every member to join us heart and hand in the great work which grows greater and more hope- ful with each passing year.

A CALL TO Our meetings have DUTY. begun and are hopefully moving on. It is only reguned that every member of the church shall en- ter enthusiastically into the work, to make the results more than gratify- ing. It is of the highest importance that the coming week's services be largely attended, not only by the members themselves but especially by those whom we hope to win to Christ. The conditions of admittance into the church will be carefully reviewed and every item will be as caretully ex- plained as the time will permit. We should therefore urge the attendance of those outside the chinch and se- cure it by a large amount of personal work. Go after your friends and urge them to come, then go and bring them to the church with you Let us work while the day lasts.

Last Lord's Day Services made us hopeful.

1.a Grippe has interfered with our week's program.

We shall continue the meetings with Bro. Medbury doing the preach- ing next week.

We trust thal next Lord's Day will witness as helpful and hopeful services as last.

The Pastor's temporary illness should make every member feel a greater personal responsibility for the success of the meetings.

Services will be held on Saturday evening and regularly on Sunday. The subjects presented will be those presented earlier in the week. We trust your interest will manifest it- self by your presence at all these ser- vice's,

So far very few people have renewed their subscriptions for the Announce- ment. We must have not less than 150 paid subscriptions or stop the issue. We sincerely hope this will not be necessary. Bro. I. G. Stat- ford will receive your subscription at any time or if you drop it in an en- velope and so mark it he will get it.

At the time of writing the Pastor is better but suffering from effects of the disease which is so prevalent. He hopes to be able to preach on Friday evening and doubtless will be able to do so. He is grateful to Bro Hams and Prof. Adams for the services ren- deted Monday and Tuesday evenings and to all the people for their kind solicitude. He sincerely hopes that the meetings will not seriously sutter by reason of his indisposition. l.et us all labor the more zealously during the coming week and thus bring to us and others a great blessing.

ITEMS OF INTEREST TO ALL.

The meetings begin again to-mor- row.

Bro. Medbury will be with us on Monday evening.

While we have been disappointed in the beginning of our meetings let us see to it that we are not in the final results.

The only way for us to make our meetings a success now is to ralley as as one man to their support. Let us all be active trom the start.

Last week's issue of the Announce- ment was as it had to be, not as we wanted it to be. We hope this week's issue will atone for last. Do not fail to send in your subscription.

Let your presence at the services on Lord's Day be a testimony to us of your deep interest in the success of the work now in hand. The past is as it is, but the future is within our power to moulde. We believe that a great work can be accomplished but it will require the united labors and prayers of us all. The day is at hand.

FAITH. Acceptance with God, on the human side, rests upon faith as a foundation. "He that cometh to God must believe that he is and that

he is a rewarder of them that seck atter him," Heb. Al. 6. As a basis of faith God has provided us with an abundance of testimony of a kind that appeals to the heart as well as to the head. There is no ment in sim- ple intellectual assent to a well estab- lished proposition, but when our faith is able to lay hold upon all that the proposition involves, when we be- come willing to act upon its require- ments then there is merit in it, and our acts based upon it become acts of righteousness. Hence Paul says : "With the heart man believeth unto righteousness." Herein is seen also the justice of the statement of our Lord. "He that heheveth not is con- demned already," he is condemned who refuses to act upon the require- ments of faith. The greater part of the infidelity of our times is ot the heart not of the head and upon such rests the condemnation of food.

PREACH THE It often happens that

WORD. the people demand the very thing they do not need. The demands made upon the pulpit at the present time could as well be an- swered without the Bible as with it. The call is for a discussion of "topics ot the day," and the like. The de- mand should we believe be met with a renewed and empathetic announce- ment of the great facts of our Faith. There never was a time when there was a greater need tor Panl's injune- tion to Timothy than now. Every minister should "Preach the Word" which is God's power unto salvation and every member of the church should uphold their minister in such preaching. It may not be so popular but it is the churches' business not to be popular when it involves a com- promise of the truth as it is in Christ Jesus.

The harvest truly is great.

Pray ye therefore that the Lord send forth laborers into the harvest.

It is useless for us to pray for la- borers unless we ourselves are ready to enter the harvest fields.

God expects every disciple to be also a teacher. It is our business as followers of Christ not only to sit at his feet as learners but to impart what we learn to others.

The first week of Bro. Medbury's stay with us is nearly gone. Surely he has done his part and we have been blessed, but oh for more souls gathered into the garner of our Lord.

The results of our meeting will be just what we make them. Surely an opportunity is before us. Shall we meet it? Let everyone who reads this ask solemnly the question, what have I done, what can I do to help along the good work? "Arise, arise, put on thy strength oh zion."

The month of January is nearing its close. Tomorrow is the last Lord's Day. We earnestly desire that all pay their weekly apportionment in full and thus avoid the necessity of

collecting by special calls, According to our plan the delinquent dues for January will be collected during the month of February. Whatever amount is paid through the regular collection envelopes in February there- fore will be placed to the credit of that month's dues whether January's dues have been paid m tull or not.

YOUR BROTHER'S KEEPER.

In vain, in days of old, did Cain seek to evade accountability to God. the all seeing eye penetrated every disguise and revealed the murderer. Today, while we would slink than conduct like Cain, often we leave our brothers out in the darkness without God and without hope and do not feel specially burdened by the awful condition.

The judgment day is som to down for you and for me, and when God asks "where is thy brother, what did you do for him?" what will be our answers?

Oh brother, sister, let us realize that not only the salvation of others is m- volved but our own salvation is at stake !

Hing can we stand before Good and expect His approval it from those at our right hand and our left we have withheld the message of His love?
