THE PASTOR'S MESSAGE.
Dear Brethren: Another year of fellowship and service is ended. It has brought its joys and victories as well as its sorrows and failures, but whatever it has brought it is now past and we face the future. Inexpress- ably thankful for all the kindnesses and courtesies which have been extended and with affection as deep as ever for the church and its members, we ap- proach the time when the relationship which has existed between us dining the past six years must be broken. In making this announcement there are a few things which crowd for it- terance and I take this opportunity to address you.
In the first place I want you all to know that there is no trouble or ill feeling which has brought me to this decission. It is rather with the feel- ing that the work which I had espec- ially to do is, in a measure, timnished and it is therefore better for me and better for the church that a change should be made. Other reasons might be urged but they world chietly be in evidence of the above and so we refrain. I am especially anxious that
all should understand that it is not for for want of harmony or personal good will that I have decided to leave. So far as I know Ihave not an enemy in the church or city and it there should be any I do not care to know who they are.
There is one thing however which has detered me from coming to the decission and which now troubles me not a little. I did so much hope that the financial obligations which are past due and those which are secured by personal security might all be paid before I leave. I do not feel that I can in any sense be held responsible for the funihne of the church to do this and set it grieves me beyond ex- pression that certam ones who have it m their power to do this are with- holding that which they have futh- Fully promised when it is well known to them that the payment of their in- dividual obligations to the church would relieve the church of embar- massment and me of the one thing that robs me of much of the joy which should crown this minisis. I I shall never address you again on this subject. Lappeal for the chinches sake more than his own and vet I make it for my own sake too, and for your own. Lige the payment of all pledges now past due that my ministry may be crowned with the measure of success for which I have so long labored and praved and which aw.uts only the action of you who have faithfully promised. 1 tige it that the churches tuture may be as- sured, that my successor, who ever he may be, may begin with brighter pros- pects of a successful ministry and that you may all be happy in the better days to come. This appeal is made to those who have the money or the power to secine it and it should be

THE ANNUAL MEETING.
Considered from all standpoints the annual meeting of last Monday night was about the best we have ever held. The records revealed the fact that about $4,500,00 has been raised for all purposes. This, of course, in- cludes the sale of the lot and the money raised by the C. W. B M. This is the largest amount ever raised in a single year by the Church. the debt has been materially reduced and the items of indebtedness greatly les- sened. More was given to missions the past year than ever before-about $240.00 altogether being given for that purpose. The reports also showed that the several departments of the work have been preceptably en- farged in membership and efficiency. The number of additions to the church, when all things are consider- ed, was very creditable indeed. The newly elected board, we believe to be
compose of efficient men, capable of discharging their several offices in a way which will bring credit to them- selves and give strength to the church, We congratulate the church on the ouiflood for the coming year. While we most deeply feel That certain obli- gations should be met at once, and hope they will be, still we shall not despair it they are not. It would, however, in our judgment, be a serious mistake to let them diag, for they will be a constant menace to the wel- fare of the church in every way. May the Lord grant unto the church dur- ing this year 1900 an unprecedented prosperity, both in the payment of its obligations and in the saving of lost humanity.
THE NEW BOARD.
All newly elected officers, elders and deacons will meet in the base- ment room of the church Monday night, the 15th, at 7:30, to orgami.e for the work that is before os, I hope no member will absent himself, as the interest of the church demands our attention. Come brethren, let us be at our work.
O. P. EVERSOLE, Vice-Pies't. Board.
A very important meeting of the Ladies' Aid Society will be held at the church Thursday at 2 o'clock. Every lady of the church is requested to be present.

What shall we do as to securing a new pastor? Some action should he taken at once. As we will be like a fuck without a shepherd if we are to remain without a pastor for any length of time. Why not have a committee of 3 of 5 appointed to look after our interest> Some at- tion should be taken at the services Sunday.
