Services will be held at the church every evening next week.

Every loyal disciple should bonot the Lord in worship every first day of the week.

. The least duty God requires ot his dhikthen is to worship before him m the congregation of the saints.

The meetings next week will be evangelistic. We shall hold them in the Sunday School room and hope to have a good attendance from the first.

Bro. E. W. Allen, of Chicago Uni- versity, an old classmate of the editor at Hiram, will speak Monday even- ing. His sermon, we are sure, will be full of profit to all who may be pres- ent.

The Announcement is appreciated by all our people and is one of the greatest possible helps in our work. We wish its circulation might be ex- tended among many outside the church membership.

OUR MEETINGS. In thisissue you will find an announcement of a series ot week-day evening meetings. We do not know how long they may con- tinue, but shall let developments de- teimme the length of time. While this is a rather abrupt notice we have not come suddenly to a decision to hold the meetings. It has been in our mind for some time and has been considered by the board for more than a month. In the past we have ve- cured excellent results in simular ser- vices and we hope that these meet- ings may be profitable in reviving same who are indifferent and winning others to Christ. We solicit your at- tendance and help and trust that everyone will do what is in his or her power to encourage the work thus undertaken.

OUR DISTRICT CONVENTION.

During the last week we have had one of the best, If not the best, con- ventions ever held in the Litth bois- trist. Nearly all who were on the program were present, and the ad- dresses were all helpful and mspning. Our people should begin to realize, as they are, the importance of these smaller missionary conventions This is at the foundation of all our miss- ionary enterprises, and should be so considered. Had we had such an or- ganization ten or fifteen years ago the Ossian church would never have gone down and the Bluffton house would never have been sold. We believe in all the larger enterprisesot our great brotherhood but most of all do we be- lieve in looking after the base of sup- plies. Our country churches need en- Couragement.

The meetings will continue all next week. Come.

These balmy evenings cannot be better used than in the service for the lost.

Our audiences thus far, while not large, have been very gratitying in. deed. We hope and expect that a great many more will attend next week.

We may have been a little doubttul about beginning the meetings, but we are not questioning the advisability of continuing. Every indication points to a glorious meeting it all or any considerable number of our people will enter enthusiastically into the work. There never was a better time.

The meetings will be held in the Sunday School room for the present at least. There is a charm about a service in that room which we do not tind even in our beautiful auditorium. Let us crowd it full of anxious, eager listeners, It is neither too hot nor too cold, too dry nor too wet to come to church. Let all come.

RELIGION IN Having made our FORT WAYNE speech on the relig- ious condition of Fort Wayne, we are ready to let the matter rest for the present. In making our bow, how- ever, we wish to have it understood that it was no spirit of self agrandize- ment or lack of appreciation of the good that the various religious bodies are doing, that led us to deliver the series of sermons. A careful perusal of what has appeared in our daily papers will reveal that we have spoken only of the plainest facts of history and of conditions that do actually ex- ist. We have not said one single word in defence of the position held by the West Jefferson Street Church of Christ. It has not been mentioned. If it is guilty of any of these things which we decry, let it bear its share of the blame. It is the conditions them- selves we deplore. We do not even pre- tend to represent any chinch, and are not answerable to any. We have tried to preach the truth and do it in love, and any criticism which does not bear in mind these facts shoots wide ot the mark. God hasten the day when the conditions calling for such preaching may not exist.

ANNUAL DUES We have bills a- mounting to about two hundred dol- lars which should be paid at once. We are depending upon annual dues to meet these bills. Only about titty people have paid, out of a resident membership of over tour hundred. Surely we ought to expect a great many of these by next Sunday, or at the latest by a week from Sunday.

By order of Financial Board.

When you buy, patronize our ad- vertisers and tell them why.

THE AMERICAN CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY SOCIETY.

The Central Church in Chicago 1 the child of this society, as also the first churches in Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Galveston, and a hunched other cities.

The Home Board is helping thits State Boards do mission work with n their borders.

As a result of the work done by this society the cause of primitive Christianity is growing Rapidly in New England and New York as well is in the West, notably in ( hiding.

Every dollar put into the treasury of this society so stimulates the local churches that it chaws tour of inte other dollars into the work of the church.

On an average, every five dollars Spent in Home Missions brings a soul into the Kingdom of our Lord, and every three hundred dollars so spent results in the organization of a church.

This society is the mother of the C. W. B. M., of the Foreign Society of the Church Extension Boand, of the Board of Negro Education and Evangehzation, of the Board of Edu- cation; and of the Board of Ministerial Relict.
