Let no one think that we are fol- Icwers of Alexander Campbell simply. Nothing could more thoroughly per- vert his teaching than io obiain fol- lowers of himself. He exalted the Christ above all men. So also do those who stand upon a similar platform.
In the series of addresses on the teaching of Alexander Campbell we aim to preach the Gospel. We use the name of the man simply because he was instrumental in calling atten- tion to a number of items in the Christian Scriptures hitherto unob- served. The use of his name also furnishes an opportunity to speak of the historical setting of this great plea for unity.

The place of the Ordinances
It is agreed by all Evangelical Chris Dans that there two ordinance ap. panted by the Christ, baptism aint the Lord's Supper
The Disciples of Christ teach that bass- 1ism is an immersion of pointent believes in water in the name of Christ, and inito the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
This is the only ground of union on the subject Sprinkbog and and pouring are in dispute. Baptism of unie. levers, that is of infants, is in con- troversy. All agree that penitent I elevers are proper subjects for bay- tism and that immersion is unques- tionably right. The Disciples, there fore, occupy the only safe ground.
The Lord's Supper is "a sweet and precions feast of holy memories, de signed to quicken our love of Christ cement the ties of our common brotherhood.", We therefore oh- serve it as a part of our regular wor- ship every Lord's Day. I Cor Xl 20-34 Acts XX 7.
Baptism is more than a mere form It is an expression of faith and proftener a public recognition of the authority posessed by our Lord, and a sut- render to him. It brings the bap- tized into Christ, and mto the pos. session of the benefits of his death. Rom. V1.3. Gal. 111.27.
Baptism is said "to save." I Peter ill 21. It cannot save without faith. Hab. X7,6.
It cannot save without penitence. Luke XIII:3.5.
Confession with the month is said to be "unto salvation." Rom X -! o. Baptism does not proente salvation. We are saved by grace. Npb. H s. "There is no power in the water to cleanse from sin, for sin is a disease of the heart. We are saved when in umple compliance to this command we manifest our entire submission to the will of Christ. Upon the per- formance of this art we have the promise of remission Acts 11 38.

DEDICATION ANNIVERSARY.
We are growing more deeply con- cerned about the success of our anni- versary service, for we know how much depends upon it. Quite a thorough canvass has been made and letters have been sent to all who have pledges yet unpaid. It will be neces- sary for many others who have not pledged, to assist in this great undet- taking. It certainly seems reasonable to suppose that we shall have no trouble in raising the amount, which is the minimum of our needs, and we shall have none, if each one does what he or she can. But it will require the help of everyone who possibly can. We are anticipating a victory on that day such as we have not seen before in our history as a people. It now rests with you. Do not permit 3 disappointment.

CHURCH OF CHRIST ANNOUNCEMENT.
A LAST WORD.
We have said about all that it is possible for us to say with reference to the emergency which is to be met tomorrow. Yet we wish you to read just this one last word, and reflect upon its great importance. We have called for $1500.00 and we need every dollar of that amount, and can not impress too strongly the importance of every member doing all he or she can, in order to raise it. We shall rejoice in a victory second to none in our history it this splendid sum is realized, and the future will open be- fore us as it never has at any previous period since our organization.
But we are not making this call simply to prove how large things are possible tor us, but rather because we must. Present conditions make it absolutely imperative and if we should fall far short of the sum for which we have called it will be noth- ing less than calamitous "lemer- gency" is the only word which cx- actly expresses our condition at the present time. How can we make it plainer ?
Believe us, dear brethren, when we say that it is imperatively necessary for every man, woman and child who is a member of the church, to give something without reference to pledge and to make that "something" as large as possible. In the name of the Christ, whose we are, in the name of the church, which we love, and in the name of humanity whom we seek to save, let us therefore urge upon you, your immediate duty. The Lord bless you.
Prof. Forrest of Butter College, will speak tomorrow.

The summer days are here.
Do not allow the hot weather to melt your religion.
Religion is better hot than cold. So don't keep it on ice.
A good Christian is neither too hot nor too cold but maintains an even temperature.
It is as cool in the church on Lord's Day morning as it is at home. L.n not allow warm weather to krep Jon away.
We are sure the anwenderdei will be a welcome visitor since it has failed to appear for five weeks.
We plead for unity, but will not suffer a compromise of the truth. Compromise looks broad but sooner or later it will be found that the truth is the broadest platform on earth, and that unswerving loyalty to it is the only sure way to unity.
READ THIS.
As we all know by this time, the amount of money called for on dedi- Anniversary day was not raised. We felt very grateful for the generous offerings which were made and for the splendid spirit then mani- lested, but the amount failed to meet our needs, and so we have had to do the embarrassing thing of asting for mine sonoun. We trust that you will not become impatient because of our importunity. These hill . ale to be paid and they will never have to be paid but once so the sooner the better and yop interest. We have is- sued i call this week week for a small offering trom each one. The call is very nearly unanimous. We have omitted a few who have already done all they could or whose circumstances do not warrant us in asking For mole. We sincerely hope that this will be sufficient for the present but we shall not be bashful about calling when our ciremas ances demand it. especially on the tust halt of then pledges. Be patient with us and we are sure the re-this at the end of the year will be most gratifying.
