ITEMS OF INTEREST TO ALL ..

The special meetings have closed.

But the door of opportunity ful service is not closed.

Neither is it too late to accept the pardon and mercy of Gand offered to you in Christ.

Regular services will be held tomol- row at the usual hours. The pastor will be glad to greet the people.

Every inducement is presented for increased activity by the conditions all about us. let us be ahve to every opportunity.

The extreme cold weather inter- ferred quite seriously with the last two evenings of the meetings, but we were gratified by the number who did come even in the face of the cokt weather.

There were fourteen additions to the church during the meeting. Six by baptism and eight by letter and statement. In another column you will see a list of the names. We trust that our older members will strive to make them feel at home, and that they will endeavor to become ac- quainted with all.

OUR MEETING. Atter the inter- ruptions at the beginning of our meet. ing by reason of sickness we, of course, could not anticipate so fruit- tul a work, and yet we have every lebon to be grateful for what his been accomplished. The work of Bro. Medbiny has been of a very high order and the impressions which have been made upon the community have been good. His clear, kind and dig- nitied manner of presenting the truth has won the attention of a number who heretofore have known nothing ot the great plea for simple New Testament Christianity. We also Feel grateful to the Angola church for its unseltesh mterest in our cause. We rejoice in the new fellow ship thus begun and trust that it may continue to be a source of pleasure and protit to both congregations.

We regret that more of our own people could not, of at least did not, avail themselves of the opportunities afforded during the meetings. We must however that those who were for- tunate enough to be at all of nearly all of the services will spread abroad the helpful utterances and the Christ- ian spuit manifested. Om Temem- berance of Bio. Medbury will always he pleasant and we shall always re- joice in his success, and we teel sure that he will rejoice in the triumph of the both in Ft. Wayne under the leadership of whomsoever in the provi- sence of Good it may be.

We are grateful to the members of the chon and especially to Prot. Harshman for the music they have Inrnished during the meetings and to Stella Drummond to presiding at the instrument so faithfully.

ITEMS OF INTEREST TO ALL.

Every Lord's bay should witness some triumph of the Gospel.

Let personal solicitation and in- vitation characterize us as a people.

The severe cold weather doubtless interfered quite seriously with our last Lord's Day audiences, as it did with the last two evenings of the meetings. The audiences, however, were very good considering die weather.

Sickness has interrupted nearly all our plans thus far dương the yêu, but we are not discouraged. Indeed the outlook is promising and if we all work with a will we shall vet re- joice together in the success of the work.

The next matter of great import- ance to which we must give aftention is the March offering for Foreign Missions. It is not our purpose to urge large contributions from each one but as before to urge that every member give something however small it may be. Thus we shall be made to rejoice in a worthy offering to this great work. Literature bearing upon this matter will be distributed Sunday.

CHURCH LETTERS. Letters 1 commendation such as she usually given to there deserving them, ale not intended to be kept by those it- ceiving them They are simph m- tended to be used in transferring mem bership trom one congregation to an- other. The holding of them does not relieve the holder from responsibility, i rather mereases it, since the letter is not addressed to the person to whom it is given but to the church where it is to be presented, and the person receiving it is responsible not only bont conduct becoming a Christ- ian during the time until it shall be de- livered but for its safe and speedy de. livery to the church to which it is ad- dressed. A chinch letter one, two of three years old is rather poor evi- dence of Christian standing now. It is nut lại to ask a church to Accept it, and it is just as untan to be ab- sent two nt three years from a church and then work top a letter of goud standing. A person who is so mes- 1cttul of Christian duty as fo rem.mm unidentified with a local church for more than a year except under extia- ordinary encumstances should feel the neces aty od repentance and for- givenes and should be glad to come into the church by confession and be counted as reclaimed

There Que no more important meet- ings held than the monthly meeting of the official board It is there that We gather together the various lines of church work and plan to meet the duties that que betene us. Each of- ticei should consider it his business to. be present at each meeting and aid m the deliberations. The meeting will be held Sunday afternoon.

Remember the offering for Foreign Missions March 5th.

Our motto is: "an offering, how - ever small, from every member."

You will be given envelopes for the Foreign Missionary offering, between now and March 5th.

Let every member of the church make a contribution, it it is only . penny to this noble enterprise. God can use the small amounts as well as the large ones.

To everyone giving a dollar of more to Foreign Missions this year the Missionary Voice will be mailed free of charge, We hope many will feel that they can do as much as that. However we do not urge the amount, we only want everyone to do something.

We were delighted with the large audiences last Sunday. his always a hopeful indication to see a large number of people at public worship. It gives strength to the service and lends inspiration to all present. Let us try to make each service one of inspiration and blessing.

PREACHING CHRIST, Recently NOT BAPTISM. we heard a min- ister of the Gospel say: "I believe in preaching Chist," and then de- clare that he had never vet preached a sermon on baptism. This seems rather strange in view of the fact that there is someely & recorded sermon of the Apostles which does not in- chuide the subject of baptism. Peter included it in his sermon on the day af Penecost. Philip preached Jesusto the eunuch, but somehow the eu- nuch found out that it was necessary tor him to be baptized Ananias who was sent to instruct Sand, spoke of baptism in a very positive way. Peter again included it m hes sermon at the house of Cornelis. It must have found a plice in Paul's sermon before Lydia for she was baptized. and though Paul dechued to the jailor: "Beheve on the Lord Jesus, and thou shall be saved," he must have said something about baptism tor the jailor was baptized inmed- intel. It is said also that the tan- inthians hearing believed, and were baptized. Our brother would scarcely be willing to say that he had never preached on faith, or on repentence, and vet in these recorded cases of conversion there is often no mention ot either taith or repentence while baptism is always mentional. We ton, would gladly avoid controversy, but we believe that a little comtrovesy is better than to ignore a subject so prominently connected with every in- stance of conversion recorded in lets. Such neglect of duty should be rather a cause for shame and somw than for boasting. We advise our brother to re-study the New Testament to know what it means to preach Chist, and hereafter not to ignore a subject, upon which our Lord has set the seal of his authority.

MISSIONARY JOTTINGS.

Read carefully the letter you have received.

Put an offering in the envelope and bring it to church.

Remember our motto: "An offer- ing however small, from every mem- ber."

"A church must go to the lost or go to oblivian," which shall we do?

About 400 foreign missionary en- velopes have been sent out. This is about one each for our resident mem- bership.

We expect that every individual will at least return the envelope. Ii you do not we shall call tor it. Be sure to put something in it, if only a penny.

If we were asking for a large amount from each one some might feel too poor to contribute, but we are not anxious about amounts this time. We are anxious about your individual representation in the other- ing. If everybody is represented in this offering with such an amount as you confidently believe God would have you give under all the circum- stances, our apportionment will be easily reached.

There are some special reasons why, we as a congregation should remem. ber this offering for Foreign Missions. In the first place during the past year we have been blessed with a very" excellent degree of prosperity. A year ago we were feeling the burden of our local work and doubtless we are yet feeling it, but we have begun to see the way through, and though it has been, and still is attended with some sacrifice we can yet be thankful that God has led us thus far and so let us make this offering one of thanksgiving to Him tor His loving watchcare. Then too, since in prev- ious years we have contributed to this work the Foreign Board is de- pending upon us this year. Upon the strength of our record in the past together with others who have done likewise, men and women have been sent to heathen lands, and shall we fail to lend to them out support, shall we be untrue to the contidence they have reposed in us.

And then another reason that might he urged, is that then comes with such an offering a reflex blessing which we cannot estimate. The sense that we are, in common with the great hosts of disciples everywhere, engaged in such a work is in itself an ; inspiration. Therefore we urge all to give, not so much that you will wish you had not given it, nor too little as if you had no care or interest in this , great work of the Lord. Something from everybody is our watchword.

A letter from Bro. Medbury states that they have had twenty three ad- ditions thus for in then meeting. We rejoice with them.
