We had an excellent audience last Lord's Day morning in spite of the Storm.
Four new names were nominated. by the board at its last meeting, for deacons. As soon as they have been interviewed as to acceptance we will publish their names.
The elders have prepared a list of eighteen or twenty names, which will be read at the close of the morning service tomorrow and a recommen- dational offered that the church with- draw fellowship from them. The reason urged in most cases is unfaith- fulness to Christian duties.
The names above mentioned by no means exhausts the list of those who, unless they can be persuaded to a greater manifestation of Chris- tian life, will in a short time be sim- larly delt with. We dislike to do this, but we are persuaded that noth- ing but injury can come to the cause of Christ by retaining dead branches. It is our purpose, hower, to drop no one until every means to revive him or her has been exhausted.
OUR MEETING. It is now quite definitely settled that our meeting will begin Lord's Das, Jan. 1 1. It seems to us that this is a must ap- propriate time for inaugurating such at work. It is not only the beginining of the calander year but the beginning also of our church yêu, and the sixth yeni of the presem pastorate. it is more than a year since we have undertaken an aggressive campaign for the winning of souls, and there- fonte we have reason to anticipate a real hearty interest on the part of every one in this coming etiont.
We shall inaugurate the meeting with a general talley, lasting perhaps a week. On Monday evening, Jan. 2nd, will occur the annual business meeting of the church, and we have in mind a program which will give added importance and attractiveness lo this meeting and make h helpful in the evangelistic services which shall follow. We shall have something to say about it in later rettes of the Announcement, and in the meantime we hope every member of the church will be planning to assist is every possible way. Pray for it; labor for it, speak about it, and our Lord will surely give us a blessing.
LOCALS.
Our sick are improving.
What's the matter with the Brother- hood?
Bro. Medbury, of Angola, will assist us the last two weeks of our meeting.
We would like to collect about fifty Announcement subscriptions tor the past year.

ITEMS OF INTEREST TO ALL.
The year is rapidly drawing to a close.
In a few more days we shall enter upon the last year of this great cen- tury.
With the beginning of the new year we shall inaugurate our revival. Surely it is an auspicious time.
There are many things which should be accomplished before our annual meeting, but none more important than raising the necessary amount of money to meet our financial obliga- tions.
The program for our meeting is nearly arranged and we feel sure that when it is known it will inspire all with new zeal, and increased interest will be manifested. Let every one begin to plan for the meeting, but first, do not forget your obligations to the church this month.
GOOD LITERATURE. Beginning next Lord's Day we shall inaugr- ate a new movement for the distribu- tion of good hterature. We have made arrangements with the Standard to furnish us a number ot copies of each issue on terms which will war- rant us in selling them for five cents each. The good literature committee of the Y. P. S. C. F. will have charge of the matter and will offer the paper for sale at the close of each service for the above named price. This is exactly what you would have to pay for a copy of the Sunday issue of a great daily and we see no reason why the religious weekly can not be handled in a similiar manner, and we have determined to give it a fair trial. If the plan succeeds we shall also carry a few tracts, partly for sale and partly for free distribu- tion, and we hope to be able to make arrangements whereby the Christian Evangelist can be handled in the same way. We do not want this plan to interfere in the least with the usual method of subscribing for either of the above named papers, but desire to place before our people our religious papers in such a way that they may secure an occasional copy at least, and we hope that it may prove bene- ficial.
We wish to say that the money which we have called for is needed this month. Our obligations are due and we have promised to meet them. Your pledges are due not Jan. 2nd, '99, but in December, '98. We are depending upon you this month and we sincerely hope that no one who can possibly avoid it will delay pay- ment later than the 25th.

OUR CHURCH With this issue the PAPER. Announcement closes its first volumn. It has not perhaps ac- complished all that we might have hoped and yet we can not see how we could well have gotten along without it It has borne a many an important mes- sage to all our members and we are certain has often been heeded. It has, we believe, made a place for itself in the hearts of our people, who would be slow to give it up. It has cost some labor as well as money. Our readers owe a special debt of grati- tude to Sisters Bessie Rich, Lillie Bowen and Mrs. Knight for address- ing the wrappers, and to Elvie Hartup, Earnest Shultz, Grace hoch and others, for folding, wrapping and mailing each issue. Ye editor, per- haps, has not always been in the bap- piest frame of mind when writing the copy, and he feels that special apol- ogy is due for the errors that have occurred in spelling and otherwise trom time to time. And yet in look- ing over his file he feels a peculiar satisfaction in the results of his It- bors, and hopes, in succeeding issues to eliminate many of the mistakes at least, and to improve the general char - acter of the paper. In the list of those to whom we are under obliga- tions we should not forget our adver-
tivers, especially Bemben & Patterson, Abdill & Tatt and @ B Fitch who have almost continuously patronized om columns, and while we hope 10 one will have to patronize Wi. Bloom, vet should we have to buy any of the goods in his line we should remem- bei him. These men have mitde 0M paper possible. The pimter ton, We. Singmaster, is deserving of mention He has been especially obliging and prompt, and has this lightened greatly our labor. We shall continue the paper but will receive subscriptions for three months only. We hope to receive quite a number of back sub. scriptions before the end of the veal.
May we not hope for the largest offering in the history of the church on next Lord's bay Remember that means about seven hundred dol. lars at least.
How such an offering would thill us and fit us for the meetings which are to follow.
ITEMS OF INTEREST TO ALL.
Merry Christmas to all
The Christmas season should be one of joy.
While we have arranged for no Christmas entertainment the children will be remembered.
The services Christmas Day will all be of special interest and will, we trust, tittingly celebrate the day which, hy common consent, is observed as our Lord's birthday.
A little less than one-sixth of the thousand dollars needed is raised We are depending upon tomorrow to greatly augment this amount, Do not spend all your money for pies- ents and let the Lord's cause go beg- ging. If it were not for the church we would have no joyful Christmas season.

Happy New Year to all our readers. We begin the new year with a special effort to save the lost.
Next week's program is intended to arouse an interest in the hearts of all our people in the work which lies before us.
Have you been thinking about your friends and neighbors who are out of Christ? Have you been planning to bring them under the influences of the Gospel by bringing them to our meet- ings?
Tomorrow is the first day of the new year. Why not inaugurate the year in the house of the Ford? We hope to see the faces of all our mem- bers in the sanctuary on this the first Lord's Day as well as the first day of the new year.
The Packard Piano people have kindly donated us the use of a piano for our meetings.
OUR ANNUAL On Monday even- MEETING. mg will occur the regu- ler annual meeting of the church. This has come to be a regular texture of the year's work and we believe, is a good thing. As in tormer vers, reports will be read from the various deput- ments of the chinch work, and the necessary officers will be elected In- sted of the reception which has heretofore formed a part of the regu- lar program, we shall be permitted to listen to our esteemed friend bro. L. L .. Carpenter. The service will begin promptly at 7:30 and the busi- ness will be attended to in as biict a time as possible. Every member should be present to hear the reports which are read, and to catch the in- spiration of the meeting. The reports of the last year are full of incourage- ment.
We have received since our last is- sue a little over one hundred dollars to apply on our building debt. Thisis good but it is'nt nearly good enough We have the promise of two or three hundred more in the near Inture and this is encouraging, but we will be compelled to ask for more. We ap- peal therefore to the great mummi who have done nothing so tu, to lend as- sistance and help to place the church in the best financial condition it has been in since our dedication Let a great number respond at once.
