One cool breezy day we took the Irol. leys and rode up to Mount Airy to the Deaf and Dumb fortitute, a beautiful place. The scholars go to school in the forenoon and work in the afteri.m. There are abunt 400 scholars. The girl- learn to sew, trim hats and make partx of slines; the boys make shoes, wurk at tailoring and printing. Most all the work is done by the scholars; they print the reports and a paper. There are sev. eral buildings on the groundx all of stone.

We visited the Zoological gardens, where you can see all kinds of animals, mostly wild; there are also birds and snakes. One nice, cold morning we v x- ited the mint, where they make money. the only mint where pennies and uirkels are cuined. You can see them making muney. At first the silver and goldl is in bars; they are melted aud then rolled out this. There Is copper in the gold and silver, sa it will not wear out so quick. We saw trays of gubl in hars worth $1.000 or more They sweep np the dust anul buru it, so as to save all the gold, and when the workmen's clothes get hun old to wear they burn all them to save the gold. In the last room we vis. iled there were show cases on two sides of the rowmmm full of coins used by all nations of the world. Paper money is made in the miut at Washington. We saw the widow's mite, a black piece of money, which makes me think of sen-sen. uply four times larger. The Chinese money his little square holes in the center. The little pieces are carried on a string around the tieck; the other size is much larger and they are carried im a string around the waist.

Last but not least we visited the grounds of the Pennsylvania university tain several handsome buildings of stone
