Article 9. Voted to transfer from available funds the sum of $1,580.00 to cover the cost of partial replacement of equipment, supplies and expenses due to the burning of the Ralph Wheelock School.


Article 10. Voted that the School Committee be given the authority to dispose of the salvage from the Ralph Wheelock School.


Article 6. Voted to accept the report of the School Building Committee and give them a standing vote of thanks.

Voted that Arthur L. Lewis as Chairman, Frank G. Haley, Mrs. Edmund Mortimer, Harry E. Conway, and Robert H. Fraser, Sr., shall be the new School Building Committee and have full charge of the construction of a School Building.


Article 8. Voted that the new High School be erected on the Property with the present School Building on North Street and the exact location of the new building on this land be left to the discretion of the School Building Committee.


Article 1. Voted that the sum of $494.85 be transferred from the balance of the Fire Insurance Fund and $450.00 from available free cash for the purpose of razing the ruins of the Ralph Wheelock School and filling the basement to the ground level.


Article 2. Voted to authorize a committee consisting of the Board of Selectmen, the Chairman of the Board of Assessors and the Town Treasurer to sell and convey in behalf of the Town the parcel of land known as the Ralph Wheelock School lot located on Pleasant and Miller Streets.


Article 6. Voted to reconsider Article 6.


Voted that the sum of $8,000.00 be transferred from the Fire Insurance Fund and turned over to the School Building Committee to be used in connection with the new school building.


Voted that the meeting be adjourned.

Pursuant to the foregoing warrant a meeting was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday the fifth day of November, 1940, at 6:30 A.M. The following persons were appointed election officers, sworn in by the Town Clerk and assigned as follows: Louise Brennan and James Atherton to distribute ballots; Anne Young and Abigail Sheahan to check at the ballot box; Edward Sweeney, Edna Huebener, Richard Conrick, Eugene Munson, Arthur Kennedy, Laura Atherton, Cora O'Hare, Robert Fraser, Joseph Mair, Margaret Kennedy, Francis M. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING December 5, 1940


The meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7:30 P.M. and the follow- ing action was taken on the article in the Warrant:


Article 1. Voted that the sum of $118,301.03 be raised and appropriated for the construction of a High School Building including the cost of original equip- ment and furnishings, and that to meet said appropriation the sum of $1,000.00 be transferred from the appropriation for a school boiler voted under Article 29 of the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting held March 11, 1940, the sum of $2,245.53 be transferred from the Sale of Town Farm Fund; the sum of $3,750.50 be transferred from the School Trust Fund; the sum of $25,305.00 be transferred from the Fire Insurance Reimbursement, and the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen be and hereby is authorized to borrow in accordance with Chapter 44, General Laws, the sum of $86,000.00 and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, said bonds or notes to be paid in not more than twenty years from date of issue of the first bond or note, or at such earlier time as the Treasurer and the Selectmen may determine.
