SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
April 14, 1947
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7:30 P. M. and after reading the warrant the following action was taken on the articles therein:
Article 1. Voted to accept a gift of about $2,000.00 from Ruth and Harry Mamas of Medfield in the form of alterations in the Town Hall, namely treating the hall to improve the acoustics and appearance by putting special sound padding on the walls and covering this over with a decorative rose colored fabric material (all fireproof); putting up two partitions, one

on each side of the hall near the stage with doorways, left side as an exit and right side as entrance to the Ladies Room. Putting up a partition across the entire rear of the Hall in the balcony, covering all partitions with sound padding and fabric. Color scheme to be rose and maroon. Above alterations to become the property of the Town of Medfield.
a. Voted that all of the aforementioned altera- tions and work to be done under the supervision of the State Department of Public Safety and the Board of Selectmen.
Article 2. Voted to give permission to Ruth and Harry Mamas to put up a Marquee and false front on the front entrance to the Town Hall now used as the entrance to the movies. This Marquee and false front to be put up somewhat on the idea of the sketch and is to be of simple and conserva- tive design with the word "MEDFIELD" on the top. This sign will be illuminated at night in conjunction with removable letters which will be placed in the sign to announce the pictures playing or any other special event which might take place at the Town Hall. This sign, since removable, will remain the property of Ruth and Harry Mamas.
Article 3. Voted to grant a five year lease to Ruth and Harry Mamas and/or their heirs and assigns, in accordance with their present agreement, on Chenery Hall which is used by them in presenting movies. Rental of the hall to continue as at present.
Article 4. Voted to transfer from available funds in the Treasury the sum of $300.00 for the purpose of painting the ceiling and dado in the Town Hall, the entire Ladies Room, entire front hall, and real balcony ceiling, as soon as Ruth and Harry Mamas close for their repairs, provided these repairs are approved, and in the color recommended, suggested or de- sired by the Interior Decorator to tie in with the color scheme of the hall; this painting to be done after June 1, 1947 and before August 1, 1947. All the aforementioned work to be done under the supervision and with the approval of the Board of Selectmen.
Article 5. Voted to accept the following named sums as Perpetual Trust Funds for the care of lots in Vine Lake Ceme- tery, the interest thereof or as may be necessary to be used for said care, viz:

A certain parcel of land situated on the southerly side of Main Street in Medfield, Massachusetts and bounded and described as follows:

To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $3,255.00 to purchase a tractor with sidewalk snowplow and bulldozer unit and to finance the foregoing purchase, appropriate $755.00 from available funds in the Treasury and authorize the Treasurer to borrow and issue notes to be paid in not more than five years from the date of issue or do or act anything in relation thereto.

To hear and act on the report of the Com- mittee appointed underr Article 35 of the Annual Town Meet- ing of March 10, 1947, to look into the advisability of install- ing about 600 feet of 6 inch water main in a northerly direc- tion on Pine Street from the approximate corner of Pine and Summer Streets.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to rescind the regulation adopted under article 32 at the adjourned Town Meeting held March 12, 1928, and substitute therefor the following regulation of the Water and Sewerage Board, or do or act anythingg in relation thereto:
For all futurer extensions of water mains, the water takers on such extensions shall be charged an annual mini- mum water rate in an amount, the aggregate of which such annual minimum water rates shall be three per cent of the cost of the extension and installation on a six inch line for a period of ten years, and that the Water and Sewerage Board be authorized to enter into contracts with such takersr where- by said takers shall guarantee payment of such minimum sums for said period of ten years, and that all other persons desiring to connect to said extension within the ten year period be obliged to pay such proportionate partr of the original cost of the extension as said Board decides is fair and just, for the remainder of the ten year period, provided a contract is entered into with said Board and that all con- tracts hereunder shall be signed and delivered to the said Board before any money shall be expended on any extension. All such contracts shall be recorded by said Board in the Registry of Deeds at Norfolk County and shall constitute a lien on the premises affected thereby.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $2,500.00 from available funds in the Treasury to

defray the expense of installing a 6 inch water pipe under Pine Street from a location near the corner of Summer Street for a distance of approximately 600 feet in the north- erly or do or act anything in relation thereto.
Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $700.00 from available funds in the Treasury for the purchase of a new Police Car and authorize the old car to be turned in as part of the purchase prirce or do or act any- thing in relation thereto.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING August 12, 1947
Pursuant to the foregoing warrant, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7:30 P.M. and the follow- ing action was taken on the article therein:
Article 1. Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to amend the by-law adopted under Article 24 at the adjourned Town Meet- ing held March 12,, 1945, entitled "Specifications for Construc- tion of New Streets Through Private Property" by striking out Section III and substituting gtherefor the following:
"Section III. Before the Town will accept street or way, the plan of which has been prepared, approved and filed afore- said, the street shall have been properly constructed and fin- ished as described in Section IV, with the further provisions that any water main or sanitary sewer in such street or way shall have been constructed in accordance with Section V." and by adding Section V as follows:
"Section V. Any water main or sanitary sewer in a private way shall be constructed in such manner and of such mate- rials as may be specified by the Water and Sewerage Board, which Board may require that the construction beunder the supervision of said Board or an engineer or contractor approved by the Board. A plan of each completed water main giving measurements by which each valve box may be located, and a plan and profile of each sanitary sewer giving measured elevations at top and bottom of each manhole shall be delivered to the Water and Sewerage Board."
