R. was completed to Owosso in IS55, and the road to Lansing in 1863. The city received its corporate charter in 1860, and now has a population of about 2,800. There are 7 churches, representing the Baptist, Catholic, Congregational, Episcopal, Evange- lical, Lutheran and Methodist denominations, a handsome brick Union school building and 3 branch schools, employing in the aggregate II teachers.
