MRS. SARAH M. BABOON Mrs. Sarah M. Fasson died Sunday at the home of ber daughter, Mrs. Ross E. Robertson, at Ozark. She was 85 years old. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock today at the Presbyterian church at Ozark. The Reverend W. C. Hicks, Presby- tertan minister of Willard, will of- ficlate. Burial will be in the Ozark cemetery under direction T. B. Chat- fin. Mrs. Easson came to Missouri from New York state in 1877 and has made her home the entire ume at Ozark. Her husband, William Eas- son, dled in 1903.

Aten. 1011 Weat Lombard street. He had been in the Baptist ministry aince he was 25 years old. He.retired from the ministry several years ago. The Reverend Moss is survived by three daughters. Mrs. R. T. Scott, Anahem. Callf., Mrs. Minnie Clark, San Berna- dino. Calif., and Mrs. Aten. He also is survived by two sons. H. H. Moss. St. Louis, and O. B. Moss. Joplin, and ohe brother. A. A. VETERAN SCHOOL MAN DIES AT WEST PLAINS


WEST PLAINS, MO,, Jart. 15-"Yesde Lee Ruffin, 72, planeer educator, died at his home in West Plaine Sunday. The body was forwarded to Union City. Tenn .. for burial.


Mr. Ruffin was born in Helaun, Als, and was graduated from Peabody college in Nashville, Tenn. He spent 40 years In educationsi work in Ala- bama, Tennessee and Missouri. Ho es- tablisbed the first- high school in Union City, Tenn. He also was su- perintendent of public schools in Lake City. Fia., several years.


Several years ago he came to the Ozarks for his health and for a tinie was head of the Van Buren. Mo., schools. He came to West Plains in .1923, at which time he retired from school work because of his health.

Fordland Woman Pours Gasoline on Clothes And Sets Them Afire; Found in Flames by DaughterinLaw


SATURATING her clothes with gaso- line and igniting them Mra. F. O. Westerfelt, 55, of Fordland, Mo., fa- tally burned herself yesterday. : 'She died an hour and a half after being found with her garments in asbes and her flesh seared.


Mrs. Frank O. Westerfelt, Jr., dis- covered her motherinlaw back of an outbuilding at the rear of the West- erfelt home. In setting fire to her- self. Mrs. Westerfelt had also set the outbuilding on fire.


The flame victim regained con- eciousness long enough to mutter: "My suffering was too intense; I had to end it."


1 LEFT TO TAKE WALK


Relatives said she had been men- tally afflicted for two years. Her


husband is a widely known commer- cial salesman. With his son. Frank O. Westerfelt, Jr., he was calling on merchants in towns in southwest Missouri and had not been notified of the tragedy late yesterday.


Reistives had closely guarded Mra. Westerfelt for several months. Only she and her daughterinlaw were at the Weitereit home when Mra. West- pleined' the was going to


: tantra tried to open the door. It was locked. She battered frantically at it. Her screams attracted atten- tion of the Reverend Smith of Ford- land.


SLIPPED OUT GASOLINE


Together the two forced the door open. Mra. Westerfelt was not in the buliding. Then they heard a moan from the rear of the structure. There they found Mrs. Westerfelt.


Her clothes were burned off. Her body was charred from the flames.

They carried her Into the home and summoned Doctor W. J. Rabenau of Springfield.


Mr. Rabenau, who is a friend of the family. accompanied the physi- clan.


The Westerfelts lived one mile west of Fordland. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Westerfelt: Jr., were . at school at the time of the tragedy.


Near the spot where Mrs. Wester- felt was found was a quart bottle which had contained gasoline and which Mrs. Westerfelt had surrep- titiously taken from the rear porch.

ELEVEN children, 10 of whom were homeless and one abso- lutely parentless, found their way Into good homes In .Greene county last year through the legal procese of adoption, records in the juvenile division of the circuit court sbow.


8lx other children were also turned over to foster parents pend- ing " the completion of adoption processes started last year.


The ages of the adopted children ran from one extreme to the other. The youngest was 12 hours of age and the oldest 21 years old.


Persons alleged to be the parents of one child, a baby boy. denled the parentage and the court. after ad- vertising for the father and mother and failing to find them. granted the petition of a Springfield family to take it as their own child.


Death stepped in to end ouc adoption case tragically. A Spring- field man and wife had asked the court to be allowed to adopt a small boy. whose father was unknown. but before the process could be completed the child died,

F. 8. Robberson, 88, son of one of the earliest Greene county families and a reteren of the civil war, died Tuesday night at his home lu Cave Springs after a few weeks' illness, Mr. Robberson was born .on the farm owned by his father, Rufus Robber- son, in 1844. Robber- son, 85. son of one of the earliest Greene county familles, and Civil war veteran, will be conducted at 10 o'clock today at Cave Springs Pres- byterian church. Burial will be in the cemetery there under direction of Greenwade Funeral home of wu- lard. Mr. Robberson died Tuesday at his home in Cave Springs following an illness of only a few weeks. He was born on a farm In Greene county owned by his father, the late Rufus Robberson, In 1844. His parents both were born In the county. Robberson avenue, one of Springfield's main residence sereeta, was named for the family, as well as one or two churches near the city. Mr. Robber- son joined the Confederate army in 1862 and served until the end of the war in Company E, 16th Missouri di- vision. He was in the Battle of Wil- son creek, the Battle of Springfield and many other engagements. He is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Ella McGuire, of Walnut Grove, and two sons, R. H. Robberson, of Springfield, and E. L. Robberson, of Willard. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. W .. L. Jacques, 78, who lived for many years in Springfield. died at her home In Kansas City yesterday. The family moved from Springfield About eight years ago, but Mrs. Jacques has visited here several times since and retained many friendships here. She was a native Missourian. Denled by divorce the ministering presence of their mother, Mrs. Allce Eckles of Mansfield. Mo., two small boys yesterday died within two hours of each other at the home of the father. Roy Eckles. In Kansas City. according to a report received herr.


Since last September Mrs. Pearl Ad- ! dington, who has two children of her own, has cared for the little boys while their father has been at work. The father also boarded at the Ad-


dington home.


Kissed Them Good-bye


Eckles kissed each lad goodbye and went to his work in a parking plant. Two hours later he was called home by a telephone message that his four- year-old son. James Edward. was dead. He found the other boy, l'ay Albert. . six years old, sitting In a chair. Hc looked pale but assured his father he "felt fine." Following a coughing spell an hour later, he, too. was dead. An examination revealed thai death was due to typhoid fever.
