A veteran of the Civil war. Mr. Gustin followed his three years' of service in the Union army in an equally colorful career as a country Journalist, his friends may.
He came to Missouri from his home in Michigan in 1868. He first settled near Lebanon, and two days after the Battle of Wilson Creek, he enlisted in the Union army.
During his enlistment he never missed a day of service. He engaged in the battles of Monday Hill, Pma Ridge, and participated in the slege and surrender of Vicksburg. He was a member of Company A. Sixth Mis- souri Infantry.
Wife Died Recently
His wife died a year ago last June. He is survived by his son and one daughter, Mrs. Thomas P. Miller. of Lamar. Funeral arrangements are Incomplete. The body will be ship- ped to Richland where services prob- ably will be conducted Saturday. W. L. Starne undertaker. Is in charge.

Mrs. Ellen Sliciton. 68, died at her home nt 1222 East Pacific street early last night after a lingering Ill- ness. She is survived by her husband, William P. Shelton, aix sons and three daughters. The sons are Frank Shel- ton, of Tulss, Okis .. Albert, Jake. James, William and Eddie. all of Springfield. The daughters are Mrs. Clarence Pike, of St. Louis, Mo .; Mrs. Rufus Cook, of Ozark, and Mrs. Charles Noble, of Springfield. Funeral arrangements arc incomplete.
