INQUIRY ASKED INTO 'SUICIDE' OF YOUNG WIFE
Relatives Not Satisfied With Explanation of Farm Mystery
FATHER CALLS FOR QUIZ
Man Tries to Kill Himself After Finding Young
Woman Dying
Further investigation into the strange death of Mra. Marie Swer- inger, young wife of a prosperous farmer living in the Johns Mill neighborhood eight miles southeast of Fordiand," was sought today by relatives of the woman.
A coroner's jury said it was sul- cide after the woman's body, with a bullet hole through her head, 'was found lying in a wagon shed a few yards from the bome where she had lived an often unhappy existence with Walter Bweringer, farmer. But her father. Robert Scott, a former Springfield man who now lives on a farm near Fordland, and one of! his sons are not satisfied with the outcome of the coroner's Inquest.
Peculiar Features
It is a atrango case. For instance Mr. Scott has approached John M. Bragg, prosecuting attorney at Ava with the idea of a further investi- gation He argued that there were no powder burns erident about his daughter's wound when the body was Viewed by the coroner's Jury. and that such burns probably would have been made by gun fire at very close range. He pointed out. 100. that the shell from the mm. sup- posed to him killed Mrs. Sweetnge
- - - Betalde, Says Prostestor
today ba & "thoroughly conymdyr" the case that so far as be le concerned there !!!! be no new Investigation. The
fact that powder burns were not woen by the coroner's fury might bare been because Doctor. Good of Pordland summoned immediately after the shooting. washed and dressed the wound. he declared. Or. he said. the jury felt the .32 caliber rifle found beside Mrs. Sweringen might have been held so close that the powder burns were made Inside the wound.
Mr. Bragg declared that the bul- let wluch killed Mrs. Sweringen en- , tered her head about the middle of the forehead and passed out at the top of the head little more than an inch or two from the hairline This fact. according to the prosecu- tor. convinces hhin the shot must have been fired from very close range and was self-inflicted.
Ilusband Sought Death
He was asked regarding the miss- ing shell. and this brought the revelation that Sweringen several times tried to kill himself when his wile died after he had found her wounded and unconscious. Mr Bragg declared he was told by John Moxley. a farmer of the Johns Mill neighborhood, that Swertigen some- where in his home threw out the shell from the gun lound beside his wife and put in another sheil. threatening to kill himselt with It Moxley took the gun away from hum, he said, and a short fline later kept tam from killing fanaselt with an automatic pistol and thea with : a razor.

Just before the shooting, Mr. Bragg AAld. the Sweringen's 4-year-old son Inu luto a bedroom of his home where his grandmother, Mrs. Barah Sweringen, was confined :. bed.
