HARRISON.


Population 500. This flourishing lit- tle city is located on the C., R. I. & P. Ry., in the northeast corner of Kiowa county, 14 miles northwest of Hobart, the county seat. It is about 15 miles north of the famous Raney mountain range of the Wachita mountains. It is surrounded by fine farming lands. The annual rainfall according to govern- ment report is 40 to 50 inches. This is substantially evidenced by the general prosperity that prevails in the country roundabout. In 1901, when the Middle States suffered from severe drought. 3+ and 40 bushels of corn per acre was raised here. Choice quarter section farms may still be bought for from $2,000 to $3,000. Has a bank and a weekly newspaper, the Gazette. Tel., W. U. Exp., U. S. Telephone con- nection.
