kogee, 143 miles from Parsons, Kas .. and 126 miles north of Denison. Texas, is a modern and np-to-date town and located in the very heart of the best agricultural section of the Creek Nation, has good schools and churches. Catholic, Baptist and Meth- odist. 2 national banks, with a capital of $$0.000 dollars, a $50,000 cotton seed oil mill, 4 gins, 2 good hotels, the Foley being a new and handsome three-story brick with all modern con- veniences. The National is also a good hotel for accommodation of travelers. Two of the largest mercantile houses m cithier Indian or Oklahoma Territory are located here. There are many more lines of business in a prosperous and growing condition. There are two weekly newspapers published. the Ga- zette and Indian Journal. Eufaula is strictly made up of home capital. Population, 900. Cherokee Nation. An incorporated town, located in the northern portion of the Indian Terri- tory, near the line between the Chero- ker and Creek Nations, 15 miles south- east of Wagoner, 69 northwest of Fort Smith. Ark., and 293 south of Kansas City. The National cemetery is loca- ted here. The name of Fort Gibson is very familiar, having been headquar- fors for a military reservation years ago; the barracks and some of the old buildings are standing there to-day. Grand river nearby affords unlimited water power; a rich agricultural coun- try surrounds the town; has a good publie school; Methodist, Presbyterian and Baptist churches, and a bank. A weekly newspaper, The Post, is issued. Ships cotton, hay, corn and potatoes. Mail, daily. Stage to Muskogee twice a day; fare, 75 cents; to Tahlequah once a day; fare $2.50 round trip. Tel., W. U.
