the county to cattle men. The census of 1900 gave the population of Wood- ward county only 7,469. Since then . the county has been rapidly settled by farmers, and the lands have proven equal to any in Oklahoma for agri- cultural purposes. The records of the U. S. land office, which is located here. show to-day over 10,000 homesteads filed in this county, and the majority of them filed since 1900, and as a re- sult Woodward enjoys an extensive and rapidly increasing trade in all lines of business. Woodward is situ- ated on the A., T. & S. Fe Ry., a divi- sion point, and on the North Canadian river, 412 miles southwest of Kansas City.
