In the following section of the work the cities, villages and postoffices of Indian Territory are arranged in alphabetical order, and a description is given of each place, with an alphabetical list of all persons doing business therein. In all the larger places the names have been procured by per- sonal canvas, but in the smaller they have been furnished by postmasters. Great care has been taken to insure correctness as well as completeness.
ACADEMY.
A country postoffice in the Choctaw Nation, 10 miles southeast of Caddo, on the M., K. & T. Ry., its shipping and banking point. Is on the daily mail stage route from Caddo to Ben- nington.

Population, 2,500. An incorporated city located on the St. L. & S. F. R. R., in the Chickasaw Nation. S7 miles north of Denison, Texas, and 29 south of Holdenville. It is lighted by elec- tricity, has 2 banks. 2 weekly news- papers-the News and the Star-a cot- ton oil mill, an ice plant , a cot- lon gin, flour mill, etc. The shipments embrace cotton, corn, produce and live stock.
