Okla- homa & Gulf runs east and west, the station at the nearest crossing being called Washita. The county of Ara- pahoe was opened for settlement April 19, 1892. And is probably about as fine an agricultural country as call be found in western Oklahoma. Ara- pahoe has a National and a State Bank. A number of small but thriving business stores. A large public school and an M. E. Church. For picturesque seenery the hills and valley of Custer County have long been thought unsur- passable and with the rain fall experi- onco of the oldest settler. the chance of crop failure is too remote to be feared.
