His Excellency the Commander-in-chief, on the report and recom- mendation of the adjutant general, having thought proper to form a new regiment of militia in the county of Herkimer to be com- prehended in the following bounds, to wit: Beginning at Wood Creek, opposite the mouth of Canada creek and runs thence south and east along the line of the reservation to the town of Westmore- land, thence due east along the north line of Westmoreland and Rome to the Mohawk river opposite the mouth of Nine Mile creek, thence due east, until it intersects the east line of Servis' patent; thence along said line northerly to West Canada creek, thence along said creek up through the middle of the stream until four miles above the north east corner of Servis' patent, thence north to the north bounds of the State of New York-


Beginning at the mouth of Canada creek, thence to northwesterly corner to Broomfield bridge on Fish creek, thence north to the north bounds of the State of New York :-


Resolved, therefore, that Hosea Howard, be and he is hereby appointed lieutenant colonel commandant of the said regiment; Daniel W. Knight, first major, vice Seth Ranney, removed, and Abijah Putnam, second major thereof.


Jacob Petri, lieutenant colonel commandant of a regiment of militia in the county of Herkimer; Laurence Herter, captain of a company of light infantry; John M. Petri, captain, and Elijah Good- all, lieutenant in said regiment, having (regularly) resigned, their resignations are accepted.
