mander-in-chief thinks it proper to direct that the militia in the counties of New York, Richmond, Kings, Queens, Suffolk and Westchester shall compose the first division;
That the militia of the counties of Dutchess, Rockland, Orange and Ulster shall compose the second division;
That the militia of the counties of Columbia, Rensselaer, Wash- ington, Clinton and Essex shall compose the third division;
That the counties of Albany, Saratoga, Montgomery, Schoharie, Delaware and Greene* shall compose the fourth division;
And that the remaining western counties shall compose the fifth division.
CAVALRY-AND further, that the regiments of cavalry in the first, second and third divisions shall compose one brigade, and those in the fourth and fifth divisions shall compose the other brigade.
FIFTH DIVISION (INFANTRY)-Resolved, that Michael Myers be and he is hereby appointed major general of the fifth division of the militia of this State.
CAVALRY-Resolved, that Stephen Van Rensselaer, esquire, lieu- tenant governor, be and he is hereby appointed major general of the cavalry of this State.
That Aquila Giles be and he is hereby appointed brigadier general of the cavalry in the first, second and third divisions of the militia of this State.

His Excellency the Commander-in-chief having thought proper to establish a company of light infantry at Salem in the county of Westchester to be raised by voluntary enlistments out of that part of the brigade of Brigadier General Thomas, which is in that town or within a convenient distance from it, and to be equipped and uni- formed according to law. ONEIDA COUNTY.
In Lieutenant Colonel Commandant Hosea Howard's regiment : RESOLVED, that Hosea Howard be no longer lieutenant colonel commandant of a regiment of militia in the county of Oneida, and that his commission as such be hereby revoked and annulled.

His Excellency the Commander-in-chief, on the report and recom- mendation of the adjutant general, having thought proper to estab- lish a new company at Black river in the said regiment and in the county of Oneida; therefore, Resolved, that Jonathan Collins be the captain, John Ives the lieutenant, and William Rice the ensign of the said company.

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE
WASHINGTON COUNTY CAVALRY.
WHEREAS it appears from the report of the adjutant general that the two troops of horse in Brigadier General (John) Williams' bri- gade in Washington county, the one commanded by Solomon Smith, captain, and John Vernor, junior, cornet, and the other commanded by Ezra Dyre, lieutenant, have never been compleated according to law; Resolved, that the said troops be and they are hereby dissolved and returned to the said brigade, and that the commissions to the said officers of the said troops be and they are hereby revoked and annulled.
His Excellency the Commander-in-chief having thought it proper to establish a troop of horse at Easton in the county of Washing- ton to be formed by voluntary enlistments from Lieutenant Colonel (Gerrit G.) Lansing's and Lieutenant Colonel (Charles) Kane's regi- ments in Brigadier General (John) Williams' brigade: RESOLVED, that Rensselaer Schuyler be and he is hereby appointed captain of said troop.
KINGS COUNTY ARTILLERY.
His Excellency the Commander-in-chief having thought it proper to establish a company of artillery to be raised by voluntary enlist- ments and to be equipped and uniformed according to law in the county of Kings to be taken out of the regiment commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Aquila Giles, RESOLVED, that William Carpen- ter be and he is hereby appointed the captain, Richard M. Malcom the first lieutenant, and Martin Boerum the second lieutenant of the said company.
