His Excellency the Commander-in-chief having thought it proper to establish a troop of horse in the county of Washington to be formed by voluntary enlistments from Lieutenant Colonel (Charles) Kane's regiment and to form a part of the first squadron in the third division of the militia of this State: RESOLVED, that John Vernor, junior, be and he is hereby appointed captain of the said troop.


Resolved, that Rensselaer Schuyler be and he is hereby appointed major of the second squadron, comprehending the cavalry in the county of Rensselaer, Captain (Benjamin) Colvin's troop in Cam- bridge, and Captain (Robert) Perigo (junior's) troop in Easton, in the county of Washington, in the third division of the militia of this State, and that in said squadron the following officers be and they are hereby appointed, to wit: .

Wendell, deputy commissary of military stores, to take charge of the arsenal near the city of Albany and all the military stores that may be deposited therein, pursuant to the act* of the legislature passed 8th April, 1800, entitled "An act for the payment of certain officers of government and for other purposes."

WHEREAS, John Lincklaen was on the 18th day of April last appointed lieutenant colonel commandant of a regiment of militia in


1800. November 10.


*Chapter 133, twenty-third session:


And be it further enacted, that it shall be lawful for the person administering the government of this State for the time being with the advice and consent of the Council of Appointment to appoint a deputy commissary of military stores to take charge of the arsenal near the city of Albany, and the military stores that may be deposited therein ; who shall receive as a compensation for his services yearly the sum of one hundred dollars, to be paid by the treasurer on the warrant of the comptroller.
