Resolved, That a Captain and Company of the Pennsylvania Regiment, with 2 Pieces of Cannon, be sent into New Jersey, for the protection of the Salt Works erected there at the expence of this State.

Resolved, That Jacob Meyers, Armourer and Blacksmith at Fort Island, be allow'd nine Pounds # month, from the first day of Feb- ruary Instant.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Andrew Lytle £6 14 3, for a Rifle lost in actual Service, & Expences in bringing a number of Sick from Thomson's Mill to Philad'a, to be charg'd to Congress.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Robert Magee £15 15, for his Expences from Somerset County, being wounded, to be charg'd to Congress.


Resolved, That a Powder Magazine of the dimentions of 24 feet by 36,& other Military Store Houses, be built in or near the Borough of Lancaster, for the use of this State; and that John Hubley, Com- missary, provide materials, employ Workmen, and see the same finished with all possible dispatch, and that Major John Hubley take up on ground Rent, or purchase, such grounds as are necessary for the said Buildings.

Resolved, That James Young and Jacob Shriner, Esquires, two .of the Justices of the Peace for this State, examine before them certain Persons committed to the Gaol of this City, on suspicion of having Stolen a Sum of money, &c., of Mr. Stephen Lowry, Com- missary, and that the said Stephen Lowry make such proof and pro- duce any Evidences he can before the said Justice, in respect of the said Money lost by him, and found on the said Prisoners, or any of them, in order to ascertain the property of the said Money, and that the said Justices make Report to this Board.


Mr. Jewel was directed to deliver the Hessian & Waldecker Prisoners in his Custody, to the Order of Colonel Isaac Melcher.


Major Williams, of the Pennsylv'a State Reg't, having this morning given in his Resignation, was accepted of.


Resolved, That Lewis Farmer be appointed first Major in the Pennsylvania State Regiment, and Captain Francis Murray 2nd Major.

William Hartshorne, of the State of New Jersey, being sent to the State (among others) as a Person Inimical to the United States of America, The Board, taking into Consideration the Memorial of the s'd Wm. Hartshorne, and a Letter of Mr. Charles Pettit, dated Haddenfield, February 6th Inst., directed to the said Harts- horne, are of opinion that the said Wm. Hartshorne be discharged from his Recognizance to this State, (no proof having appeared against him to impeach him in any sort,) and that the case of the said Wm. Hartshorne be refer'd to the Governour & Council of the State of New Jersey. -

Resolved, That Mr. Jacob Lawes Wiler be appointed paymaster of the Pennsylvania State Regiment, with the rank of Captain.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Col. Joseph Hart £77 19 6, for sundry Expences, £4 8 6 of w'h to be charg'd to Congress, £3 3 to be charg'd to this State, & £70 8 to be charg'd to Col. Hartz.


Resolved, That Messrs. Andrew Caldwell, Joseph Blewer, Jo- seph Marsh, Emanuel Eyres, Paul Cox, & Robert Ritchie, be ap- pointed to act as a Navy Board, and be authorized to take under their care all the Vessells of War, Armed Boats, fire-ships, fire- Rafts, &ca., Constructed for the defence of this City by Water, and do furnish them with everything necessary to attack or repel the Enemy. To provide and to have a general super- intendance of the Stores necessary for their department; to prepare and keep in a proper state of defence the Fortifications on Fort Is- land; To examine the river Channel, and to Cause Chevaux-de- Frize to be sunk in such places as they may Judge proper, to ob- struct the passage of the Enemies' Ships :

Capt. Geo. Bickham was directed to pay Mr. William Evans 841 8 104 for Blankets, Stockings, &ca.


The following Letter was wrote to James Young & Jacob Bohri- ner, Esq'rs, Vizt :


" Gentlemen :


As it appears That Joseph Atkinson was Privy to the Robery committed by Nilnet and Mahony, shared the money with them, and very probably has it in his power to give information concern- ing the remainder of the money, not yet discovered, which he re- fuses to do ; You are, therefore, hereby directed and required to commit the said Joseph Atkinson to Close Confinement in the Com- mon Jail of this City, until further orders from this Board, or un- till he be discharged by a due course of Law.

Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Capt. Jn'o Jameson £13 16 4, for 2 days' Wages to His Company, when ordered to march to this City & countermanded, to be charged to Congress.


Capt. Bickham was directed to pay Major Coomb £75 10 6, for subsistance of himself, Major Cisna, a Capt. & 23 men of Col. Wood's Battalion, Bedford County.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Rosbothem £9 5 0, for Riding Express to Bucks & Northampton Countys, with Letters to the Colonels of the different Battalions of Militia, to make a return of the Public Arms, &ca.

Resolved, That Doct'r Abel Morgan be appointed Surgeon of the Eleventh Pennsylvania Regiment, Commanded by Colonel Rich'd Humpton, in the room of Doct'r Mich'l Jennings, Resigned.
