Resolved, That Mr. Christian Wertz be appointed Town Major of Lancaster.


Resolved, That the Committee of Lancaster direct a sufficient number of aged or infirm Persons who are unfit to bear the fatigues of the Campaign, to be enrolled under the Town Major, for the purpose of Guarding the Prisoners in the Barracks, the Amunition and Stores in Lancaster, during the absence of the militia.

John Allison, for Arms taken from non-Associators in An- trim and Peters Township, Cumberland County, and put into the hands of his Battalion, then under marching Orders for Amboy. These arms were appraised by Tho's Johnson, Fergus Moorehead, Henry Pawling, Patrick Maxwell, Robert Smith and David Huston, made payable to said MoClean by Col. Allison, to be charged to his account.


Mr. Nesbitt was ordered to pay Nicholas Spencer £1 2 6, for Hawling three Cords of wood.

Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Robert Bridges £131 19, being the amo't of two acco'ts, viz : £52 for 40 Hammocks @ 26s, for the use of the Galley Convention, John Rice, Esq'r, Commander ; and £79 19, for 302 yards of Canvas @ 4s 6, and 6 Barrels of Turpentine @ 40s, for the use of the Ship Montgomery, Henry Dougherty, Esq'r, Commander.


Captain Bickham was directed to pay Capt. John Andrew, of the 5th Batt'n of Cumberland County, £6 9 4 being the Balance, he having rec'd £11 5 of Com. of Carlisle, the whole amo't, 17 144, for subsistence of one Captain and ten Privates on their march to join General Washington, to be charged to Congress.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Patrick McDowell £5, for turn- ing 200 Bottoms for 3 and 4 fb. Ball, @ 50s, to be charg'd to Con- gress.


An order was drawn on Mr. Nesbitt for 4000 Dollars, in favor of Mr. Robert White, for the purpose of paying a month's Wages to advance to the Militia of Cumberland County, who enter into actual Service, to be charged to the Committee of Carlisle.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay John Boyd £7 5, for 2 Guns & Cartouch Box, for the use of a Company of the first Batt'n of As- sociators of Northumberland County, to be charged to Colonel Hunter.

Orders were given to Colonel Morgan to have the 2nd Batt'n of Militia in Berks County, which he is to command, to make all neces- sary preparations, and to hold themselves in readiness to march on the Shortest notice, and wait until further orders from this Board.


The Council being informed that a number of the Country Mili- tia are returning to their respective homes, disgusted at the pre- cipitate orders they received this day, to march when they were not supplied with provisions, and in want of many other necessaries, which orders were given without the approbation of this Board.


Resolved, That John Hubley, Esq'r, a member of this board, be directed to endeavour to prevail on such of the Militia to return, and to assure them that this Council have, and ever will warmly interest themselves in behalf of their Countrymen, the Militia of this State, And will exert their authority to the utmost to preserve to them the rights of Freemen ; and further, that this Council will, as far as possible, furnish such as shall return, with all proper equipments, And by no means consent to their being compelled to join the Continental Army until they are so supplied.

Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay to Robert Fitzgerald £83 4 10, for work done the Ship Montgomery, and £12 11 6, for work done the Galley Convention.


Capt. Bickham was directed to pay James McDonald, Commis- sary to the Northumberland Militia, £300 8 10, for providing the Militia with provisions, on their march to this City.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Martin Wirt £75 19, being the Ball'e of his acce't, for hire of a Schooner for 77 days, a 308, and work done by himself and hands at Chevaux de Frize.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay David Robb £7, for 2 Guns and one Blanket, for the use of the 2nd Batt'n of Northumberland county, to be charged to Colonel James Murray.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay the following Person £36 7, to be charged to Col. James Murray of the 2nd Batt'n of Cumber- land County, viz:

Cept. Bickham to pay Capt. Thomas Paxton £31 8 6, for Ball'e of his acco't of Subsistence of his Comp'y from Bedford County, to be charged to Congress. [N. B. Capt. Paxton left Bills to the amo't of £9 19, at Taverns on the road.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Capt. Sam'l Wilson #23 16, for pay of his Comp'y of the 5th Batt'n of York Co. Militia.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Major John Rogers £20, for his .

An order was drawn on Mr. Nesbitt in favour of Benjamin Mar- shall for £200, for the purpose of assistance of the families of poor Militia of Capt. Bowers' Company.


Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay Colonel James Murray 67 Dol- lars, being advance for a Company of men in Northumberland County.


Capt. Bickham was directed to pay Lieut. Col. James Murray £25 6 3, for sundry expences attending this Batt'n of Northum- berland Co. Militia.


Capt. Bickham was directed to pay the officers of the above Batt'n £42, for subsistence money.


Capt. Bickham was directed to pay Capt. John Clark #148 19, for subsistence money, for his Co. of the North'd Co. Militia.
