an instance of Public virtue greatly to the Honor of the City; But as the Associators who are about to March must be supplied with the necessaries which they may want, it is, therefore, earnestly re- commended to all persons to give the Associators all. the Assistance of every kind, which may be in their Power, anything in said Re- solve notwithstanding.
Resolved, That no Landlord or other Creditor ought to distress the Family of any associator while he is out in the Service of his Country, and that this Council will take notice of any Complaint which shall be made against such as shall he found to transgress this resolution.

The Wardens of this city having represented to the Council the great Inconvenience which would ensue, if the watchmen were obliged to March with the Militia, and the board being of opinion that it is absolutely necessary for the Safety and protection of the property and Families of the Militia in their absence, as well as of the inhabitants in General, that the watchmen light the Lamps and Patroll the streets as usual ; therefore,
Resolved, That the several watchmen in this City be permitted to remain and do pass as herctofore.

Resolved, That the several Schools in this City be opened on Monday next, and the Education of Youth. be carried on as usual.
Doctors Duffield & Delany were requested to furnish the Surgeon of the 1st Battalion of Philad'a Militia, with such medicines as he may want.
Major Lewis Nicola, Town Major, was directed to detach a suf- ficient number of men enrolled under him as City guards, to escort the Prisoners of war now confined in the State prison, to Newtown, Bucks County, in order for exchange, by order of General Wash- ington.
Mr. Nesbitt was directed to pay William Rush for Horse Hire for Expresses, £2 5 0

Whereas, The safety and security of every State depends on the virtuous exertions of individuals in its defence, and as such exer- tions can never be more reasonable and necessary than where a peo- ple are wantonly invaded by a powerfull army, for the avowed pur- pose of enslaving them, which is at present the unhappy situation of our neighbouring States, and which may hourly be expected in this; therefore,
Resolved, That no excuse ought to be admitted or deemed suf- ficient against marching of the Militia at this time, except sickness, infirmity of Body, age, Religious Scruples, or an absolute order from authority of this State.
Resolved, That it is the opinion of this Board, that every person who is so void of Honor, virtue and Love of his Country, as to ro- fuse his assistance at this time of eminent public danger, may just- ly be suspected of designs Inimical to the Freedom of America; And, Where such designs are very apparent from the Conduct of Partio- ular persons, such persons ought to be confined during the absence of the Militia, and the Officers of this State to have particular regard to the above resolve and to act accordingly, with vigour, Prudence and discretion, Reserving appeals to this Council, or a Committee thereof, where the same is requested.

A letter was laid before the board from Col. Bayard to Mr. An- drew Hodge, dated at Trenton, 2 o'Clock yesterday afternoon, in- forming that General Howe was advancing at the Head of his Army towards Head Quarters at Princetown.
