COLBY. Is situated on the boundary line between Clark and Marathon counties, but is accorded to the former by the postal authorities. It is a station on the Wis. Central Line, 35 miles northeast of Neills- ville, the seat of justice. Lumbering is the principal industry, several saw mills being in operation in the vicinity, and the village also contains a fanning mill and office and saloon fixture factory, bitters factory, a machine shop, a planing mill, a bank, 5 churches, a public school, a hall capable of seating 500, a public library and a weekly newspaper, the Phonograph. Lumber is the principal shipment. Popu- lation, 700. Tel., W. U. Exp., N. P. J. D. Wicker, postmaster.
