The city con- tains a steam flouring mill, a creamery, s hay pressing establishment, a high and graded school, a parochial school and Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, Luth- eran and Reformed churches, an insane asylum with a capacity of 100 patients, s county poor house on a farm of 140 acres of land, a public hall with a seating caps- city of 600. a county jail and one of the finest county court houses in the State, heated by steam, and surrounded by & beautiful, nicely shaded park in the heart of the city, a large number of general stores, 4 hotels, 1 carriage factory and sev- eral wagon and blacksmith shops, and & grain elevator. A weekly democratic newspaper, the Juneau Telephone, the effi- cial paper of the county, is published. Farm produce and live stock are the prin- cipal shipments.
