The reporte of the Selectmen Concerrning a Way Layed out for the ufe of the Town Leading from the Country road acrofs to the Schoolhoufe in the weft precinct was red to the town and is as follows viz *:
Sundry of the Inhabitance of the Weft Precinct in Watertown and freeholders, having Sundry times Petitioned The Selectmen Setting fourth in there petition their Great Need of a way to be Layed out from the Schoolhoufe in Sd precinct acrofs to the high- way or Country road Leading oure the Great plaine, for their Conveniancy of Going to and from mill and Many other Occations upon there repeted petition the Selectmen agreed to take a View of the way petitioned for having Defired the petitioners to Notefye the proprietors of the Land on which the way Petitioned for was to be Layed out upon to be prefent and haveing Met once and againe Discurfed with the propriaters of the Lands to know on What Conditions they would part with there Land for Sd. way and after a full Discorfe with Sd. propriators

[161] and having Obtained of them the knowledge on what tearms or Conditions they were Willing to Part with there Lands for Sd. way the Conditions are as followeth : the Selectment agreed & accord- ingly Proceed to Lay out and State a way in order to Lay be fore the Town for there Acciptance. The way as it is Layed out and Stated for the Acceptance and ufe of the town is as followeth : viz *: Begining at the Highway or Country road, Between the Dwelling houfes of John Ball the 2ª. and Jofeph Hager, runing from Sd. Country road partly on the Land of Sd. Jofeph Hager, and partly on the Land of the Sd. John Ball, and partly on Land in the pofsefsion of Thos: Herrington as the way is now troden untill it Comes to the Squadran Line Sd. way So far to be one rod in width and the Sd. Jofeph Hagers fence as it now Stands to be the wefterly bounds of Sd. way, then runing over a Corner of the Sd. John Balls Land on to the Land of Deac: Jonathan Sanderfon and runing on sd. Sanderfons Land about thirty rods on to the top of a hill Sd way from Sd. Hagers Land or the Squadran Line aforefsd., to be one rod and half wide, Sd. Sanderfons wall fence as it now Stands to be the wefterly bounds of sd way, then runing partly on Sd. Sanderfons Land and partly on Sd. Balls Land about ten rods Sd. way there to be one rod and halfe wide, and Sd. way to be in Equal halves on there the sd Sanderfons and Balls Lands for the Sd. ten rods, and Sd. Sanderfons wall fence as it now Stands to be the wefterly bounds of sd way; then runing on the Land of the Sd. John Ball till it Comes to Allen Flaggs Land Being about twenty five rods Sd. way to be one rod and half wide, and Sanderfons wall fence as it now Stands to be the wefterly bounds of sd. way: Then runing on to sd. Allin flagg's Land, and runing on sd. flaggs Land about thirty rods and about three rods and a halfe on the Land Layed out to the wid". The Conditions or Terms on which the proprietors or owners of the Land on which the above Sd. way is Layed out upon : are Willing to part with there Land to the ufe of the town for Sd. way are as followeth. Viz: the above Sd. Jofeph Hager is willing to Give his Land on which Sd. way is Layed out upon, provided the town will Grant him the Liberty of Straighting his front fence a Gainft the high way South of his houfe So as to take in about Six or Eight rod of Ground

Some of ye Inhabts. were difsatisfyed that there was no Accts. given by the Comtee. who were Chofen to Petition Court or Courts &c. it being a Confiderable Sum that was Granted.
